Well, The 74 one owner manta, female owned for 29 years has just arrived at my door. I bought it off the Classifieds board and I'm pretty happy.

I must say, my ex-wife and my ex-wifes mother in-law both like it. I now know that they are extremely odd as neither ever liked my GT's.

Anyway, this will actually be the first manta that I have bought for myself as a driver and not just as a parts car for GT donor stuff. (I've had 6 manta's all got stripped)..

I'll be wanting to add A/C stuff shortly as soon as I straighten out the carb tuning (idle needle at full extension). So, anyone with the extra arms to the factory bracket would be greatly appreciated as I have the factory flat mounting plate, the pulley, the fan spacer and the vacuum bypass switch, but that's all.

Also, because I'm too lazy to search (I actually will later), what are the easiest front seats to install.

Thanks all, I'll need some help as I transform from a GT guy to the Manta Mommy.

Congrats Brett, so are we going to be seeing the Manta at the next Texas Opel meet?

manta towing the GT?

I'll again try to keep really lofty and excessive goals for myself and I want to have the GT ready for the next Texas meet now that I'm only down to one full restoration. But alas, I just finally got the house one the market today and I still have to move and I still have to fix the little things on the Full Size Jeep Wagoneer so I can give the grandmother's car back and start toteing the kiddo around in the woody wagon. So, yes there is a greater than zero chance that I will be in the Manta in order to prove that I actually do drive opels and not just buy them to part out.

And in the middle of my liquidation, I got a new bed yesterday, so after a month of suffering on the sleeping bag, I slept on a real bed.

So, I guess my new life has offically begun with a new car and a bed. Now if I could just shake off the depression funk that my soon to be ex has placed over my life, I might go back to work soon. But if I don't, I guess the GT just might benefit.

We put our house on the market and it was on the market for a week and a half. The second person to come see it buying it. We didn't expect it to go that quick, so now we find ourselves having to move out by 25 Aug.! I have to get all my Opel stuff out of the attic. Trans, 3 radiators, 3 gas tanks, seats dashes, springs, etc. etc.
Fun, fun.

opel parts to move

George,

I know the feeling of packing, I'm working hard now in hopes that I move my opel goodies to a new home by sept. 1 also.

And don't forget, late August should be about 102 degrees.

Hey Brent it's me, the guy who ALMOST bought your last GT(thanks for letting me out of that deal). So your liking your Manta? Or more importantly your ex-wife and ex-mother-in-law are. I did get an automatic '72 GT from the Bay Area and it arrived in un-restored fairly decent condition. Check out my gallery photos. When will we see photos of your Manta?

I'll get pictures up of all the Opels that I have as i move out of my house. My garage isn't condusive to pics, and much to my fighting the urge, in preparation for the move, the manta just got a full trunk of Opel parts and non-essential tools.

I was much nicer to the back seat and only loaded it up with my baseball bat collection.

It may very well be that I don't give it a thorough drive until I start to move into a new house.

So far it is the Free Jeep Wagoneer that is beating me down into submission. After that it is a Mazda Protege that decided to overheat (most likely to its death with a warped aluminum head).
I'm glad I don't actually own either of those beasts.
