Picked up the missing lumber today. Lumber selection sucks and prices have recently skyrocketed. Ugh.

Anyway, threw up some vinyl base on part of the back wall just to see how it looks. Big improvement!

I put up the plywood decking over the loft. Nothing like carrying sheets of plywood up a ladder... I’m getting too old for this stuff.

Also built the 4’ x 8’ ‘transition’ deck which is where the staircase will be built off. It’s one level down from the loft I just built, and it will be about two steps higher than the really big loft I still have to build. That one will have most of the parts on it, and all my cars under it!

You should have built the stairs first so you could carry the plywood up!

Started moving cars this week. I may end up putting 2 or 3 in the shop basement temporarily since the upstairs is still really cluttered. Once the loft is finished that will change, but in the meantime the cars are in my way.

On the up side if a tornado or hurricane comes to your area, you will be safe, just go out and get in the basement of that garage. I don't think it is going to blow away (lmao) good job on the design and structure of that place, but Gary is right you need a bigger garage.

In all sincerity, the visual exemplifies the organizational skills exhibited. We should all be so gifted. Bob knows where is stuff is at!

Hidden in bins that are stacked 6 feet high?😂

It’s not organized yet, but I’m approaching that crossroad. Hopefully within a year everything I have will be fully sorted and labeled, and that’s saying a lot! Some of this stuff has been boxed since the 1980’s.

I would bet money that when you get it all unpacked and sorted (1) you did not know all the stuff you had and (2) you will find some stuff you forgot you had. Tobie Thevenin (RIP) had stashes at several locations when he passed and his son is trying to dispose of them. The stuff is not all Opel related however as he was into Buicks and Corvairs also.

Screwing down the final sheets of plywood today. Can’t believe the loft is nearly complete. Quite a project!

Congratulations! It looks like a heck of a project and will be well used. Maybe some day I can make it to your neck of the woods and check it out in person.

So will this be the Opel Museum East? May not be up to the standard though. Unlike the West Coast one, I don't see piles of rusted junk, I'm mean parts, stacked to the ceiling. Heck, you could offer guided tours. Opel Pickers paradise. Instead of fill the bag, it will be fill a pallet.
