So impressive, I'm filled with envy. You sir have no doubt executed a master plan for your shop. Even my wife hovering over my shoulder says and I quote " are those match box cars under the shelves? It doesn't look real"

Bob isn't allowed to finish his red GT. That's the car he has to use when making various GT parts for me. Maybe I'll give him the F'd up gullwing doors from my new car that I'm going to toss, so that he can put at least half of a sort of roof on it. Ha!

Car #8 is now home. Started as a pretty nice day, and ended up with near-whiteout snow squalls on the drive home. Luckily it was 43 degrees so nothing stuck.

So, #9 made the trip home today. All that remains for big stuff is a parts car and my 8’ sheet metal brake. The brake is 1300 lbs so it needs to be disassembled into 3 pieces and loaded up via my engine hoist. My old barn is getting amazingly sparse.

I also brought up the old C & R Small Cars sign I painted for Carl and Smitty back in 1984. I was 18 years old and had just gotten back from a trip to Germany, and I had a few giant Opel Blitz decals I purchased. I donated one for the sign, and hand painted the rest.

As you once said to me Bob, you must be having a bonerrific set of days getting all this stuff within your reach again. I haven't done too much wrenching lately and it gets to where you miss doing certain things. I did recently buy a 1960 vintage single barrel Weber for my Ghia and rebuilt it and the car is now running with it.
Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing your fabrication skills in action again.

So how is the shop coming along?
Slowly.

Haven’t updated anything here recently, only on Facebook. Loading photos here takes too long.

Haven’t updated here in forever. Just a few pics of the shop progress. Haven’t done much other than continue to clean out my old barn and house, but occasionally I get to do some new shop work.

Well, I tried but I didn’t have it in me to get that last axle on my storage rack!

I got all the front suspensions on the suspension shelving, and 5 out of 6 axles on the axle rack. But my back said “hell no” to the last one. I will wait until I have a teenager to help me tomorrow, lol. I’ll still probably feel that in my back tonight.

Anyway, I need to build one more storage shelving unit for the back wall, behind the Manta. That will be an extremely heavy duty shelving unit, and 12 feet long. I will put all my engine cores on it. Longblocks on the bottom shelf, shortblocks on the middle shelf, and bare blocks on the top shelf. I will wait until I am 100% done moving out my old barn to start on this storage, which should be in 2-3 weeks.

Once the engines are off the floor, I can put another car (currently in my wood shop) next to the Manta. I will keep the cars on tire dollies so I can move them aside easily, and then use my engine hoist to pluck any cores I need from the storage shelves.

It doesn't matter how big a shop is, they always seem to be filled to capacity. If you didn't organize that shop the way you are it would need to be three sizes larger. Looking good! (y)

First thing I noticed "He's gotta have a lift, he didn't mount those himself, did he?"

Jeez, I had to drag my rear and then cantilever it up one side then the other to get it into the van, and I"m a couple decades younger. Some of those gotta be 7-8 feet off the ground!
