Well, as luck would have it and due to some odd circumstances, it looks like I may be headed from South Dakota to the car show in Carlisle, PA by way of San Diego, CA. I'd give details if anyone really wanted them, but they aren't all that important.

The real opportunity here is for super cheap shipping of almost any anything from pretty near anywhere in the western half of the country to pretty much anywhere in the eastern half of the country. The first leg of the trip will be with an empty car trailer, even, in case you had some midwestern car in mind for you on the west coast, and the rest of the trip will be in my Jeep Cherokee. Some possibilities:

-You could place you order for body parts from those CA Opel retailers and have them meet you at Carlisle.
-You could buy a one way ticket home from Carlisle and get a super cheap ride there. Super cheap as in a couple tanks of gas and a turn or two at the wheel.
-You could order really, really hard to ship things, like glass, and have it hand delivered with a smile.
-What was that, you wanted a motor shipped and didn't want to have to find a forklift on your end? No problem!
-You have a spare room you're dying to loan out to some guy who is just going to show up late, use your shower, and talk Opels 'til the wee hours of the morning? Great!

There are a ton of options, endless possibilities. Price is going to depend on how far you or your item are out of my intended route, and the difficulty involved, but I'm not looking to make any $, just get a little help with the gas and help some folks out if I can. Post here or e-mail me if you're got something you think you might want shipped, and we'll hash out something if we can.

Hey, I can probably even scrounge up some references for "Stephen's Opel Shipping Services", in case you're wondering what kind of service you should expect. How many Opels have I delivered now, anyway?

depends on where in TX

Maybe Jared, depends on where in TX, and on condition of the car. (It would have to tow bar, I won't have the trailer by then.)

Say, just how many Mantas do I need to deliver to your place anyway? At least I won't need directions again.....

If your travels put you thru Atlanta GA, you can crash at my place. I have a spare room that you can say in and get a shower. I do not live that far off 75 on the North end of Atlanta (Acworth). I will not be going to Carlisle this year :(

its a solid car and from pictures the tires looked better than the ones you towed the rallye here with. its davids car and he said he dont know too much about it either, less rust than the one you had brought here.

david, what part of texas is the car in? i forgot.

when you drop the car off, you could crash here and leave towards vickis and fallow to carlisle here too if you'd like.

Yikes!

You are going to put the freight companies and the US Postal Service out of work, Stephen - now if you just had an amphibious vehicle & trailer ........... :)

Jared;
The white 74 Manta David has a lot of surface rust, but, very little, actually one one rust through spot/dent on the driver's side rear rocker panel, back by the trunk area. The battery box is long gone, but, frame rails are good. Interior is shot, would need a rewire and a window regulator for the driver's door. It spent most of it's life in Hiawassee, GA, and now resides in Leonard, TX and might be moved to Greenville, TX this weekend. Ask me how I know.. ;)

You're not going to make this a habit are you? If so, you need to hook up with Mike Preble, as he can cover the south side of the US (NC through to AZ) and you can cover the north side and make it easy on yourself :D :D
In reference to your shipping service, you could do something like this:
(S)tephen's
(O)pel
(S)hipping
"If you have an Opel shipping problem, call 'S.O.S.'"

The story is, David found it on the net, told me about it. I went up and got it, but, I was living in my rental place at the time. The intial ideas was to see if it was restorer or a parts car. The motor does run, as the PO had it running when I got there to pick it up. I towed it down to Lilburn, took a ton of pics for David and we decided the body was just too good and straight to take it apart, so I told Dave to keep it whole and see about restoring it. I bought a house in Snellville and moved it there when Mike Preble started his "parts ferrying" service and towed it out to TX for David. So, all in all, I had it stored about 3 years at my house(s) Is that about correct David?
