I got a chance to talk with Jim MacMahon tonight, the Opel racer I mentioned last month. Since my last posts, Jim has raced two more times, with great results. He ran a regional SCCA race at Lime Rock on July 26th/27th, and won the ITB class. He raced again at Lime Rock on August 9th and 10th, again winning his class. A few of you last time expressed interest in seeing Jim race in New England, but didn't know his schedule. Jim is entered in two upcoming events, both at New Hampshire International Speedway. The first event is August 25th and 26th, the latter will be September 7th and 8th. I'm going to try to go to at least one of them myself, I'll let you guys know when if you 'd like to meet up. Gary? Here's your chance to see an Opel kick some ass!

Hmm, it seems I got my dates a little wrong, the race dates at NHIS for this weekend are the 24th and 25th. I'll be there Saturday the 24th (tomorrow as this is written). I'll be hanging around either with Jim MacMahon's Opel GT or with my friend Tim (he and his fiance have nearly identical Ford Escort GT's....black with blue and yellow trim.) If you can make it up, stop by and say hello.

What day will you be going in Sept? 7th or 8th? Does Jim need a Gofer in the pits? or do we want to go crazy in the stands?

I just got off the phone with my friend at New Hampshire International Speedway. Not only are there two Opels running in the ITB class this weekend (Jim MacMahon in his GT and Ed Funk in his Manta), but after a two year hiatus, Tom Drake has shown up with his GT-4 Opel GT. For those that don't know, Tom drives what has been the most successful Opel GT racecar in the US, and probably the fastest Opel-engined GT as well. Three Opels on the same track on the same weekend!
