First, I'd like to start with the Patriots. Bulletproof is a term that is often used to describe a car that is well thought out, flawlessly assembled and oh so powerful. The Patriots are certainly candidates for that term after crushing the Steelers defense. But enough about that.

How about this snow? I got a solid 36 inches here. Drifts are substantial. I heard on the evening news that some houses had drifts over second floor windows. I'll let a picture of a window on my second floor tell the story (saves a trip to the fridge).

I just saw on the news that in Falmouth, MA they saw 8" of snow falling in a 75 minute timeframe! I remember some pretty big snowstorms as a kid (in Montreal), but that's just crazy for southern New England.

That's me. Our other problem here near the water is the lake-effect, it continued to snow heavily fr another two hours after the storm "left". I went outside yesterday and dug a shovel-wide path out to the street, that took me as long as it normally takes to do the whole driveway!

I left a message for Gregg this morning but haven't heard anything. They have been without power since early yesterday.

In 97 they predicted 3 to 6 inches over 24 hours here. We got 36 in 18 hours. This was 2 days after bringing the daughter home after being born. Oh same day she had an allergic reaction. Neighbor stuck his scout after 10 feet and I stuck the big block power wagon about a block away. Flight wouldn't come in as bad as it was snowing. I walked the 3 miles to the main road and caught a ride with the DOT plow to the doctors office. I convinced him to wait and he took me back but he couldn't get me closer than the main road, So I walked back in. 18 inches and stuck at home would have been a good day.

In the early 60s, I was snowed in on my birthday for 3 days at the Alert Pad, Grand Forks AFB, NoDak. At 6 p.m. the security gurads were walking on top of the snow drifts and startled the aircrews in the 2nd floor by looking into the windows. At 6 a.m. the following day, I was standing on the roof of the hanger, 12 feet under a frozen ice wave that had curled 30 feet over the edge of the building. We had to tunnel out from the building to rescue 3 snow plow drivers and 2 D-5 Cat drivers that sunk in the drift trying to get us back in flight operations. And now you know some of why I like it here inSANe DIEGO.

I'm from Philadelphia so I'm not going to say anything about football, but this is sports related. My wife, kid and I drove our 99 Honda Civic, through this "blizzard" on our way to Hershey(you know chocolate) on Jan 22 to see the AHL team(since the NHL is on strike) and they cancelled the game, first time in 12 years. The PA turnpike was snow covered and we were going 40 MPH. There was only 4 inches on the ground!!! Isn't this a cold weather game!!! Gotta be the lawyers!!

I feel for what New England is going through. Good Luck.

'Nother Eagles fan here, although I was damn impressed by the way the Patriots dismantled the Steelers. I had season tix for the Birds since the late 80s, and had to give them up when I moved out here a couple years ago. :(
Anyone in Jacksonville willing to let me sleep in their garage? ;)

But New England has always had crazy weather. Reminds my why I left for California in the first place... with its floods, earthquakes, fires, and mudslides.

But at least you can drive your Opel year-round here!

An editorial in the local newspaper brought up an interesting point. Two facts remain constant and unchangeable at this point, the Red Sox have won their first World Series in 86 years, and this winter has been absolutely miserable in New England. There is obviously a direct connection here...

... Hell has frozen over.

Now that the Pats have dominated the first half of this decade we should expect more weird weather. Perhaps the effects of heaven shining down on the Pats could offset the frozen hell that lies beneath us and we can resume regular life.
