I finally found a decent program and created a registry database for registering classic Opels.

GT's, Manta's, Ascona's, Kadett's, and Other Opels are in separate tables and the database can be viewed in a grid or gallery format.

Uploading info is easy using the form for your model.

Check it out: Classic Opel Registry - Alt-Opel.US

Maybe fix a minor glitch? Or did you put that in specifically for me? :haha::lmao:
This comes up, no matter on which country to click.

Thanks Gary, great to have a registry that I can add my car to. Only took about a minute, had to find the pictures, and that took longer than the rest of the registration. Thanks again, something we needed.

Added a table for Bitters.

Any suggestions for additional fields or tables?
Nice idea Gary,
I would encourage everyone to add the VIN. That way, the database can
continue to be useful, even if the cars get passed around. As a Corvair
owner, I've always been jealous of the CORSA online registry,
capturing may hundreds of vehicles.

Thanks Adolf. I 'think' I fixed that. :)
I have been searching for years for a program like this and that new forum program allows for easy integrating of third party programs.

That’s really cool! I added my GTs to the list. I also misspelled my last name in one of them! Is there anyway to edit the posts? For example if you sell your car, or add another modification?

Gary, is there any way to edit the vin number and the color code? I didn't have them when I registered. The gallery is really neat. Thanks again for getting this for the forum.

Registry

Thanks Gary. Just got both my Opels registered. Couldn’t find an edit option after submitting but will look closer later. Happy Thanksgiving.

In standard view of the registry its may be better to sort the cars by VIN , instead of "added date".
From my point of view "added date " has less priority.
If VIN is not available, the system have to take "MY" with 2nd priority for sorting.

I know, that's easier said than done, due to some special characteristics, i.e. model code "0Y07NC" is similar to model ´code "77"
So for a real chronologic sorting the Registry have to use the last seven VIN digits only.

my 2 cents

All the other features are brilliant....

Thanks for the input Rolf. I updated it and all the records are now sorted by VIN. I'll have to wait for more entries to see if it automatically updates that sort. It is not possible to sort by the last 7 digits.

That 'Date Added' was the primary field. I changed it to an auto number and moved the Date Added column.

I will look into editing possibilities (there might be security issues) but for now, message me on here (or there) with any info (VIN, etc) you would like added to your entry.

Added Gallery Views for the other models.

Okay, I had my second cup of coffee... VIN fields are now 7 digits only and sorted by that number.

Registry for Kadetts.

Gary,
GT registry looks great. What happened to all the same info on Kadetts? All I see are VINS and Names.

Better now? Thanks for pointing that out.

Clicking on the "Sort" link in the header gives you several options for sorting.

I added the start of each model years VIN's to the GT view along with several 1.1's from a thread on here.

What YEAR is it?

OK, I started to register my GT on Alt-Opel and I have a problem. The VIN plate on the dash reads OY0NC 3084334, as does the sticker on the Driver side door. The date on that sticker is 12/72, so my car is relatively early in the model year. When checking the cowl mounted plate however, the number reads 77-3084334. As the car was produced in 1972, would that be correct, i.e., calendar year vs model year? And the bottom line question is: Does the registry want Calendar Year or Model Year? I would think that Model Year would be the way to sort so that would be what I would do, but thought it best to check.

Happy Thanksgiving to All (and to all a good night - wait, wrong poem)!

Doug

Just rereading this it occurred to me that adding the build date (door sticker) might also be useful?

I would say go with the one on the cowl tag. Good points on the other fields Doug.

A lot of changes were made to the GT during the model years. I added more columns to try and track when those changes took place.

Here is the updated GT form with several new fields. I also made minor changes to the other models forms.

If you already submitted your car and want to update it, send me a PM with the changes.

We already have over 40 entries!

Looks Good. It would be nice if it could be Updateable and sortable by year. Maybe a warning to make sure you have ALL the necessary data the first time.

Hans, You can sort by year (or at least I can so ??). If you are looking at the Gallery ( https://airtable.com/shrFXACoBqtfPfm57/tblw7xp7eAajS5bdb ), there is a "SORT" button at the upper left of the screen (when at the top of the page). Click on it and a drop down menu appears. The top line has "some" choice with a small arrow next to it. Click on the arrow and all the options are available. Note that the people who put no year in will be listed first as blank may be equivalent to 0 (which would be earlier than 1973!). In the lower right hand corner of the menu there is an "APPLY" button. Click on it and you have it. Note there is "Add another sort" which allows you to sort by something else, i.e., color AFTER you have sorted by the first so this example would give all the 1969 Gold color cars then the 1969 Green cars, etc. If you don't like order, you can start the year with 1973 and count backwards, then do the same for color and the Zebra stripes would be the first 1973s listed! :yup:

HTH -- Doug

PS - Have fun! If you get any really interesting sorts/combos be sure to pass them on!
