I didn't go to the show. All that work... too tired, didn't want to deal with a car that was running lean. If not for those pesky gauges (A/F and EGT) I'd have thought the car was ready to drive.

Anyway, check your email boxes. I just sent this issue out.

The print version will be along shortly. It takes MagCloud about 5 days to print and get it mailed to you.

Some statistics, things I note in my Blitz log/spreadsheet.

  • 50 Pages
  • 52 illustrations, not including the covers, ads and even announcements.
  • 18,881 words (!)
  • 87,068 characters (OK, I don't actually log this.)
  • Source file: 203 MB
  • PDF: 8.8 MB
  • PDF version I send to the printer: 24.4 MB (Includes fonts, layout, color controls, CYMK color, and more.)

Here's another link: Join OMC

This one will immediately send the treasurer and me an email with the information provided.

Rich recently gave the OMC web site a complete make-over, but as far as I can tell the content, including the registration form, has not changed. I need to talk to him to update his form and to find out what it actually does.

My box of 20 promo/archive issues arrived yesterday. I'll be forwarding a couple of these to people who contributed articles as a way of saying thanks.

My personal print issue just arrived. Absolutely beautiful, and the article on VTEC for Opels (OTEC?) is genius. RallyBob should build it! Whoever is putting this thing out deserves a Pulitzer or paycheck or something. ;)

Anyway, the print copies should be arriving in your mail boxes now.

The next issue is going to be a downer, or final resolution, depending on how members tend to see these sorts of things and how they respond. It's a special issue, a fifth inserted into our now quarterly publication. Just keep in mind that The Blitz is a club newsletter, not a magazine, so from time to time it will deal with thorny club issues. Anyway, it is 95% done and I'm having a couple of people review it now. Once I get their responses and a promised letter or two, it will go out.

Jan-Mar Blitz

I just got the Jan-Mar 2015 issue and must say that it is exceptional. The presentation, color and articles are first class!

I am a race fan and thoroughly enjoyed Gary Murph's "By Da Way" write up on his car.

I also enjoyed the article on "Rewiring an Opel GT".

Thanks Guys, job well done.....

Thanks, Jim.

The next issue is done and only awaits the mailing list updates. This one will be a special issue, dealing with a single topic, and alas, a certain disagreement I have been having with someone. Paul Kaman asked that I put out this issue to let this guy say his piece and hopefully get this issue behind us.

The PDF version of this issue will be in color and black and white, something suggested by Paul, to let people who are concerned about the cost of color to see the two side-by-side.

The cover is attached.

Meanwhile the next regular issue is about 2/3rds done. The early draft of the cover is attached.

We appreciate it, Charles.

This issue has just gone out. It'll be interesting to see what the responses, if any, will be.
Just to be clear, the sane folks will vote "no", n'est pas? The whole issue is just a bit mind boggling, and I didn't want to accidently vote the wrong way.

Mike, more than a few of us have had our issues with said instigator of the vote. If I had my way, we would impeach him from ANY involvement in OMC or anything that we might require contact with him. When I have recommended new Opelers contact OGTS for parts, I specifically tell them to stay clear of the guy who won't let his name be spoken (kinda' like Voldemort, right?). You have my sympathy.

said instigator holds no current position at OMC,

he is imposing his will and I dont quite understand how someone with no position can get these things into print.

Thanks to ye mighty harold for ridding the forum of his BS. Not 1 post since the poll. yay

It is a really bizarre situation, and we just spent $650 and bunch of my time and others time to put out an issue just for this guy. Maybe he should repay OMC.

Paul, the president, suggested this. I think it was a good idea in that it is plain and clear that we went the extra mile for him, so once we start to reel him in he can't complain about having been shutdown by me.

Next up on my list is his nonsense on providing reprints. Right now it looks like if you contact OGTS to get one what you'll get is a redacted version. He's acting as if the Blitz was his personally.

I've recently had a conversation with a member who had, at my suggestion, contacted OGTS (They have a file cabinet full of them.) to get reprints, and told him to ask for Gil. He called and talked to not-Gil, and got so much obfuscation and other classic not-Gil nonsense that it almost turned ugly. I suggested he try again but talk to only Gil, not that other guy. Now when I send people to OGTS I tell them to ask for Gil, and specifically say do not bother with that other guy. Yesterday at a show someone told me they had a car to sell, and I did just that. Even strangers are being warned.

The really bizarre thing about this vote is that each member essentially makes that vote every time they renew. Once in a while we get someone switching to PDF-only, and recently from PDF-only to print. (Everyone we have the email address for already gets the PDF anyway.) This vote takes that option away. BTW, if the vote goes for going digital, I'm done with the editor's job and most likely with OMC. Maybe Gary wants to add a newsletter to OpelGT.com's offerings. ;)

The print version of the latest issue is arriving in mail boxes now. Read and consider, and vote.

The next issue is well along. It's have more to promote the Nationals, a nice little gadget you can build to stay cool while driving your Opel, a very interesting story from Roger Wilson, tuning with a wide-band A/F meter, and the results of my look at our membership records where I try to figure out how long people have been members of OMC. One surprise finding, 25% of our members have been with us for 5 years of less. As a 35 year old club you tend to think people have been members much longer, and some have, but many are more recent. So for you old timers that have a sense of the history of this club, remember than many don't have that.

It would be interesting to do a similar analysis of this forum.
