Anybody see this 4-speed trans on e-bay? ref # 2439207674 It looks like it would work for the GT, anybody know for sure? Not much time left on it though.

Darnit Jim, I was hopin no one else saw it. it was going to be all mine!! now I we will have a bidding war! On another note, did you see the getrag transmission? i think it is for a gt, but i cant tell for sure.

To be honest with y'all, I don't think that trans will fit in a GT, not without cutting a new shifter hole. If you look at the picture, the front part is a standard Opel 4-spd, then an O/D unit is tacked on BEHIND the trans and runs off the output shaft of the 4-spd. This O/D unit is where the shifter normally comes out in the GT/Manta/Sportwagon/Sedan/Kadett. So, although it will bolt to the 1.9 block, you'd have to cut a new hole for the shifter.

This is the same 4-spd trans that goes in the GT, the only difference is where the shifter actually attaches. The on in your pics looks to be straight up, and that indicates it came out of a Kadett/Manta/Sportwagon/Sedan, a GT has it canted to the side, as the motor is canted too, to comensate for the low hood clearence. But, it's easy enought to swap the pieces, takes about 10 minutes to do the swap and with the correct GT piece in there, it'll bolt right in, other than that, the shifter would lay too far over to one side.

If you compare Jim's top left pic, with your bottom right pic and you can see the difference I was talking about. That piece can be swapped in a matter of minutes to go from a Manta to a GT, or even back again.

Which tranny are you discussing here? Is there a Getrag on eBay?

AARRGGGGHHH!!!! I was going to bid at the last second and slide in, and my computer pitched a fit and made me miss it. i could have used that old tranny, sure will miss it, poor little guy. oh well, on to the next one. as for the getrag kwilford, just type in opel getrag and you will find it. dosnt look like the same one though.

This one won't work in our Opels as the O/D unit is tacked on behind the trans, well back from where the stock shifter would come out.
As for getrags, there's this one:

But, it is from a 1.6 motor Ascona B. It looks correct, but, I'm not sure.

Both of the getrags say they will only ship to Germany, but, you can e-mail them to see if they'll make special arrangements.

It's a litte greasy from 30+ years of road grime, but, still in good shape. I'm in GA btw.
