I drove the car up off the trailer and up the driveway....it's my new parts car...all I really wanted was the radiator, seats, dash and engine....it will come with everything...flex plate to and including the drive shaft...everything.. (I am putting a Getrag into my car)... it's still in the car but will be pulling it this week.. $100 plus shipping..it probably will need to be on a pallet.

Hi Joel! It’s Donovan :) long time no see! My Manta has an automatic that we’ll be pulling out in the next few days to replace filters and whatnot. It wouldn’t hurt to have a spare laying around I suppose! And I’d love to see how the GT’s coming along!

I’ll give you a call in the next few days if I can come get it from you

The Manta and GT automatic`s are different in the Shifter Linkage. At the Manta the LInkage is driverside and the GT ones
is on the passenger side.

Didn’t know that! Thanks for the heads up

So is there any way to use a GT transmission in a Manta?

Then you must also swap the Linkage:yup:
Sounds do-able! :)
And thanks again, I just assumed they’d be exactly the same

I have must tell you that the TH180 from other Opels should not fit in a GT,
ist cost all lot of work. There is no place for shifter linkage.
So the GT is the only Opel out of this era what have the shifter linkage on the passenger side.

Oh ok. That’s good to know. So if a Manta/other Opel transmission doesn’t fit a GT, would a GT transmission still fit in a Manta? Or would the passenger-side linkage of a GT automatic prevent it from fitting?

Alright that’s what I’ve been hearing. I never would have guessed!
I’ll be replacing filters in the auto in my Manta someday soon while the engine is out. If it turns out to be complete junk, I’ll get in touch with you! Haha

There will be all sorts of junk in the pan

When you drop the pan...you will see lots of fine black junk and some brass flakes mixed up on the bottom....Is nothing...don't worry about that...all transmissions look like that after a year or two...it's common...the transmission folks sell lots of rebuilds showing the customers that stuff... perfectly normal ...just clean it and make sure to get all the oil out of the torque converter... while you have the trans out...it would be good to reseal the front pump and tailshaft bushing and seal... I can show you how..

Awesome! I can’t wait to show you the Manta. And I’d appreciate the help after I pull the trans out!

I pulled the transmission out of the car...it was supposed to be rebuilt...but I don't think it was....it worked just fine but I think it should be resealed before installed in another car...easy to do while it is out of the car.....I will take $100 for it...
