Opel Gt Recessed Headlights??

Could the GT be fitted with recessed, projector-type headlighting, like the new ford GT? I am planning on getting an Opel sometime next year and was thinking about modernizing it. I like the look of those high-end lights, and didn't know if anyone has tried it yet. If you have any picture references, or site links to help me figure it out, i'd appreciate it.

If installing the custom recessed lights is too much of a task,then what about push-button rollovers for the lights?

Thanks for any help!

Those are very cool, What I had in mind, was the lights recessed in the hole, with a flush clear polycarbonate lens cover,to make the light area flat. maybe have some bodywork to make the outer area more stylized. Although, I definately would be interested in GTZero's lights...

Actually, there was a "kit" offered for the assembly like Manny has on his GT, but, I think the whole sha-bang was something on the order of $500-700

you will have to check local laws with DMV to see if you can do that
i think most of the states outlawed doing it that way in the early sixties (xk-e series 1 covered then after 18 month had to change to S1 1/2 with the lights mounted forward and no covers )

Baz;
We have Ricers running around with "smoked" headlight covers and they're not being stopped to remove them. So, I seriously doubt the local PD is going to even venture a look at clear headlight covers.

If memory serves me correctly (which most time it fails me :rolleyes: ) somewhere in here there is a pic of a fellow that was taken from HotRod magazine that showed his Opel GT with headlight treatment similar to what you're looking for...I know, because I'm considering the same for my drag car and have seen the photo here; It's a REALLY cool Blue GT! FWIW.....

just thought of it because a few years ago here someone on a cycle was done for speeding by the police as "furious riding" ( a 17th century horse related law ) when it got to court the kid said he could not be done for speeding as there was no speedo on the cycle , but he was found guilty because the judge agreed with the police as the transportation was not a motor car but was a conveyance and the nearest law was the horse one , so they relived him of £60 +£240 court costs :D

the thing is theres always 1 cop out there who has nothing better to do when he is sitting eating his doughnuts than to troll through old laws to see if he can get his ticket quoter up

Manny's actually still rotate, which I think is really cool. My understanding of what he did was take the original light out and fit it with another flat panel and then fit the lights in there. Glassed em in and painted them.

The biggest pain was lining them up to shine in the right area.

The lights on the blue & white race car are the ones I saw on a IMCA
car in the under 2lt.class at sebring 12hrs. :eek: and they worked great
for them ( all lights must work for you to race or you are called back in to
the pits to repair)HTH
