I'm probably the oldest Opel owner here, so I'll start this thread: I noticed that the Opels in Utah are scarce, so I'm wondering if Opel owners wanted to do a meet before the snow flys here! It Would be fun to all those who are doing the restoration on these cars locally, we could exchange extra parts, ideas, and stories. I am centerally located for north and south locations in Utah and would be glad to sponser the meet here, if there is any interest.

calling Utah Opelers!

nobody said:
Hum, later in August throw the wagon on the trailer and come on out could work.
I know there are some Utah Opel Owners out there, Ben, and AndrewH, anymore? In August is still real good weather, We could still do a barbeque!

Lewdawg here from Mountain Green, Utah. I drive my GT to work everyday and I hear about a few GTs around but don't see them on the road. Have met a couple of fellow Opeler from the area and their GTs are in various stages of resoration. Mine is in need of some care and will take it down this winter but in the mean time, I drive it!!! So yes, I am interested in a get together. Should be fun. Need to pick as many brains as possible when it comes to keeping these machines running.

Hey! A response from Utah, this is great! Info here in Utah is sparse, and so are supplies. How does sometime in August sound? We should really all get together and share info and parts, and like I said I'll do a barbeque for all.

Well I finished wiring up the trailer hookup for the latest tow vehicle. Turned the wagon around just for the fun of it. It's looking like late August, maybe the 20th or 27th. Thumper is acting up so it won't be making the trip unless I find the problem. The wagon looks like a good choice tho since there are plenty of GTs there already. Liz has two very nice GTs, 73 and 69. I'll be bringing the truck so besides a few things like an early model tranny that goes to liz are there any parts requests?

PS, Every time I go out that way I've been loading up Liz's garage with spare parts. I'll be doing it again so it will be a fun time for a BBQ and talk Opels.

It doesn't get much better than that Utah! Dave just offered to bring parts needed, this must be a lucky day for Utah Opelers. The date of Sat the 20th, or 27th work fine here too, Lewdawg, what is good for you? And who are the friends with Opel restoration projects projects? are you bringing them? I think I heard Ben in clearfield needed motor mounts, and I was reading an old thread about Utah Opelers, there is a marknlu2000, anybody know who that is?

The 20th or the 27th would be good for me. Dave, do you have a good fuel tank sending unit? I have met Ben but have not talked with him in quite some time. There is a guy in Layton that has a GT on the side of his house that he doesn't want to part with (I asked) and I could go by there and ask if he is interested in the get together. There is also another guy that is doing a complete resoration of a GT down the street from a friends house. Don't know him but could go check him out as well. There is another guy in Salt Lake right off the canyon that I bought a parts car from (can't remember his name, I'm terrible about that) but I can try to get a hold of him as well. Thats everyone I know about here in Utah.

I do know the fuel sending units are rare, and hard to get at to install, Dave will have to let you know if he has one? Think we got the only good one from the salvage yard here in north Salt Lake, he put it in my 69GT. On another note I think I said wrong, its AndrewH that needs the motor mounts, I have a pair here. So lets hope he sees this thread and knows he has an invite too. Lewdawg, I know why Opels are so rare in Utah, I'll tell you all at the barbeque. On the bright side, it is a rare experience to drive the Opel here, there isn't anyone who even knows what they are! When I drive around, I can expect a lot of horn honking as I pass by. PM me your e-mail address, and I will send you my address for the meet.

Ok, I know what Liz wants and needs for pieces parts. So far everybody has been pretty quiet. Yes I have 2 gas guage sending units, one is unchecked and the other needs the wire replaced and I haven't gotten to it yet. If the one turns out ok I'll bring it or fix one.

It's looking like lunch time on the 27th. The plan so far is to leave here on the 26th but it's still up in the air if I'll non stop on the trip there, but for sure I'll be there by lunch time. I won't be returning untill monday.

I'm good with just about any beverage, ie beer, sodas, ice tea what ever. As far as the menu goes, I like bar-b-que anything. Never been tagged as a picky guest. Again appreciate the inviite and look forward to meeting everyone and talking Opels

Ok requests, Jeff to come on down from Kalispell and Ben from Ogden and Andrew to cross town. As for food If it's on fire I'm all good. If it's wet I'm fine with it.

PS: Jeff if you show, bring a truck.....an empty truck.....a big empty truck. I think this is the closest meet to you and if I can make it with a trailer and car and parts......
