In the spirit of picking up some of the lurkers and getting some constructive open discussion going, anyone care to post their odometer readings?

My 73 GT reads 70,512. (appears accurate as far as I can trace the title and PO's)

For those with Opelitis (Swelling of the Opel), post a few of your different Opels. Also interested to see how many original owners we have...

:p

Reads 77,000 and some odd miles.
Second owner, but speedometer didn't work when I accuired it back in '86. I had the speedometer working until the 1989 earthquake out here, and I hit a BIG pavement buckle. Why that made it stop working I'm not sure. Anyway, if I had to guess, it has close to or over 300,000 miles. It's my daily driver, and have a 35 mile one way commute. Has been to Las Vegas many times over the years (1000 round trip). Was laid up in rebuild for several years in the 90's. Second motor overhaul I'd done, and original owner had it overhauled once before me, when his ex-wife blew it up!
70GT 1.9 4-speed. (Well, it's the 3rd. 4-speed!)

72 ascona- fried engine, replaced engine, drove another year and sold to a MP from the 509th 100k kilometers. He drove it drunk through the window of a disco in 78.

72 Manta (Sweet car, my favorite) blew up engine (these thing need oil you say?) rebuild it with a 2.4 in 1980 wrecked it by driving into a tree sideways. 80k kilometers

71 ascona with above 2.4--wrecked dodging a wrong way driver on the Autobon. unkown miles
These cars break up in high speed accidents just like they are suppose to. Hood comes off, tranny drops, very sturdy. Hit a wall going backwards after slowing down to about 140 km the car crumpled in on itself.
only minor injuries, bumps and bruises

75 GT/E destroyed when an drunk Opel Admiral driver pushed the bumper into the back window while it was parked in front of the house. 60k kilometers

76 Manta B loaned to my mother who totaled it by driving it into a mercades. Found out that someone had committed suicide in the car latter on.. talk about a dealer not disclosing the cars history. 110k kilometers

75 Manta GT/E safely sold. 80k Kilometers

74 Manta Bought for $50 in San Francisco and restored. Moved to STL in it. 190K Miles when car was turned over (turtled) so thieves could get the wheels on my first day in St Louis.

74 Manta Rally 112K gave to opelbits after I took all the good parts for my current car

Current car, "Cranky the beast."
73 Manta Rally, engine has 2,000 miles, the cars unoriginal odometer said 80k miles when I bought it but I put the odometer of the the one that said 112K miles into it.

73 GT, first oner sold it in 74 in Cali, second owner brought it here to Austin, TX in 74, sold it to me in 2000. Now has 75,000 original miles. Had the Solex for the first 70,000 of those miles, so it's only really been alive for about 5k now.

'85 Manta

Original 93,000kms (58,000 miles) roughly :D says it on the rego papers and speedo

For this amount of kms, the NZ weather has really taken a toll on it, the rust looks more suited to an extra 100,000kms and the paint job is barely passable, but soon to be rectified once I win the lottery.

The interior is better than most 2001 Japanese cars I have seen. Small children, sloppy eaters / drinkers, and smokers are banned in my Manta :) after all, I doubt I could ever get parts easily in New Zealand
