Well, I drove my Senator CD almost daily for over a year. Maybe 1 out of 75 to 100 people saw it as a unique car. Mostly drivers of older BMW's and Mercedes.

Been commuting with the Sportwagon for over a month now. Maybe 1 in 20 give an extra look, even less give a wave or smile.

Took the GT out for a drive last weekend, it seemed like 90% took notice. Drivers and passengers looking twice. Lots of waves and thumbs up! Kids on street corners yelling "Cool car".

yup, it is a cool car!! :D :D :D

" I am not worthy"

1- I drove to work on Friday- guy in a souped up PU honks and thumbs up..
PU is one that has been customized with a little sweat.

2- same day, on way home..here is the funniest thing..if my words can describe it ..I am turning off an exit, A guy in a real nice new pontiac gt is honking in the other lane.. I look up to wave..I see him with one hand on the wheel..the other hand and his torso is turned towards me and his is bowing up and down,,as if he has just past the queen of england.

I get more waves in the summer months...in return..if I see someone in a car
that they have worked on... even if its a ricer..i give a thumbs up to recogonize that passion.

cant say I ever gave the thumbs to a new BMW 7 series or a new Corvette...nor have they to me... I guess I dont see the passion in their car. Should I start?

When I drive my GT I can't get away from where ever I've parked. People keep coming over to talk about the little beast.
One day there was knock on the door and this fellow with his son had stopped when they saw it and parked and came on up to visit for a bit and chat around the car.
All the younger guys want to know when I'm going to trick it out.
If anybody tries to get me to pull over on the curvy roads I'm going to get mad.

For some reason grand am teen drivers go beserk (and act like I do when I find a hapless 2002 or 914).

whats is really anoying for the young grand am drivers is they can't catch me either especially on the twisties by the river. :D

My DD is a '01 BLack PT Cruiser with tinted windows and 17" aluminum wheels. It is surprising the number of people ask me about the car. A LOT of older guys ask me "How do you like it?"

Driving the Sportwagon back from Alabama to Austin, I saw probably 50 PT's. Didn't see a single Sortwagon. :D Somewhere in Mississippi there I went by Taco Bell. It was Saturday night, all the kids were out. One young couple gave me a thumbs up. I was at a light and these guys pulled up next to me. I could hear them talking about what it was. (they had no clue). The passenger stuck his head out the window and said, "Hey, does that thing got a Hemi in it?" Joking of course.
A handfull of others along the trip stopped and asked questions about the car.
When I was on the side of the road fixing my heater hose a young state trooper stopped and said, "I didn't even know they imported Opels into the US."
I agree it does not get near the attention I get in My GT, but I was surprised with what it did get.

I recently had my wife's '00 Blazer serviced at a local shop. I took her back to pick it up in my Sportwagon. I could see them pointing to the car and asking questions. Later the wife said that they didn't know what it was, and these were guys my age (46). She told them. Well, when I saw that she was ready to go, I told her I had to fill up and would meet her back at the house. I pulled up to the pump and a car load of H/S kids pulled up next to it and the first words out of their mouths was "Hey an Opel, COOL!" Go figure!

my town is slowly becoming opel orientated and i think i'm the cause. keep getting more and more people saying "is this that opel i hear about running the streets" they all know what it is atleast and have stories to share about other opels, or offers to buy mine, some offers are beginning to get really tempting.

I had a guy get out of his truck at a stop light a few months ago and come back to me and just start talking about Opels. He said he hadn't seen one in 20 years! All this was neat but we sat through two red lights. The guy behind us didn't think it was too funny...

When I drive my GT around, even in the state it's in (i.e. not finished) (see my little avatar pic) I get the young guys always asking what it is...how fast.."whoa" an Opel?! I seen them on Gran Turismo! (playstation game)...The Opel moniker, not the GT. I think they used to have an Astra or something on the PS2 Gran Turismo game....

My girlfriend has a 98 Mustang (not even a the GT version...6 cyl) and we always get offered "races" at the stoplights by the ricers....Strangly enough, when I'm at the same stoplight in my GT in the same neighborhood the ricers drive right past me. I'm always nervous they will (at the time, I only had the stock motor in it...wide tires and flares make it look intimidating I guess...) challenge me, but they never do. I really wouldn't stand a chance anyway. But I always thought it was amusing.

I was coming back from the Tacoma waterfront one late afternoon and spotted a 2003 Ferrari 360 Modena on I-5. I slowly drove up next to it (I love Ferrari's anyway) to check it out and instead of ME giving HIM a thumbs up, the passenger gave ME a thumbs up before I had a chance to do the same. That was really cool.

i have all 3 gran turismo games that have been released, if i remember right
Gran Turismo 1 has no opels
Gran Turismo 2 has a astra, calibrea(sp?) and Tigra "ice race car"
Gran Turismo 3 has astra, calibrea and speedster, maybe be more on GT3

i hear Gran Turismo 4 is coming out with GT, Manta, Kadette and all the old opels, even cars back as far as the 1920's and such

I've been driving my GT as a daily driver for the past three weeks and it's been neat to see the reactions. I find cars speeding up to catch up with me so they can see what it is. I had a guy dogging me the other day, when we pulled up the a traffic light he rolled down his window to holler, "great car, I had one of those 20 years ago." I'm in Ohio and I find here that people just don't wave. I lived in Texas for a long time and everyone waves there...... I miss that.
