Prep for International Opel Festival and Picnic Saturday June 11, 2016

Hey Folks here we are back from the Carlisle Import Show. What a long hard grueling trip that was. So much time and effort spent in mostly rain. Day after Day. With a super good Friday and solid rainy Saturday and Sunday. Even with all that we have to say the turn out was really great.

Lots of nice Opel people and lots of nice cars. Soon we will get pictures and coverage of the even out as we finally reorientate and settle in to our homes again. It is such a roller coaster ride to do a cross country show.

We flew back yesterday and ended up home about midnight. After lots of rest, and lots of good news as the day went on, we are ready to move forward to our next big task. The International Opel Festival and Picnic Saturday June 11, 2016. That is our main focus starting tomorrow.

We followed up on some RSVP's and for sure another 10 were confirmed just today. Another customer car dropped off yesterday to be in the display. The President of the Opel Enthusiast Club put in a call today about the Evolution One. One of the most famous cars in Opel history being brought over and presented in the center of the display this year.

Also a big shout out to Mike Birdsell and Family about bringing the Hillbilly Dyno up and getting an engine off the stand in Riverside and getting it here prepped and running for the display. Mike Birdsell is always in charge of his special machine and upon request will fire up and demonstrate a complete engine and Wow the customers throughout the day.

On other notes the Carlisle Display now weighing twice as much as it went to the East Coast with is coming back with so many other goodies to be unloaded in it's entirety for our display. Speaking of our Special Sales Display here are some pictures of last years display. As much fun as that was, this years display will be some three times the size with no limits on how many parts we can bring and how heavy the parts are, you will all get a real treat as Opels Unlimited has added 130 new products since last years event.

More updates coming soon and more pictures. This is just the beginning. Anyone thinking of coming, you've got to tell us ASAP about yourself and whoever else you want to invite at 562-690-1051. We need to talk to the caterer sooner than later to know how much food to prepare.

We just ordered T-Shirts for the event and already 5 are spoken for. If you want one, please tell us right away, it is first come first serve and there is a limited quantity an they sold out fast last year.

5/25/16 Prep for International Opel Festival and Picnic Saturday June 11 2016

5/25/16 Prep for International Opel Festival and Picnic Saturday June 11 2016

Hey Folks these are pictures of our last event so you can have an idea of what to expect.

We will be posting others as we find them. We encourage people to send us their own photos from last years International Opel Festival and Picnic and as we get more and more we will post them each day as they come in. Everything is going to go so fast. Memorial Day Weekend is coming up and then just two weeks later is our killer event.

We all talked to Mike Birdsell about getting the engine on the Hillybilly Dyno and he will be coming to the Museum in Riverside on Friday. He will be loading up the engine at that time. Ordered the T-Shirts for the event and out of 20 already 5 are spoken for.

Donna Sion showed up and started the planning for the Prep over the next two weeks.

Woody is confirmed for KJ/DJ for the event and is excited to be a part of our big day.

We are still tallying up people on a daily basis. Everyone is checking in. Looks like we are up to 60 people now. Everyone can invite friends and family and we are looking for a good real count so we can get that food catered.

Of course we encourage Pot Luck and everyone to add any munchies they can provide to the Festival.

There is still a fun big positive spirit left in us as we return home with all the excitement from the Carlisle PA show.

As Todd remembers Tech Video 13 being made in Carlisle with A Flock of SeaGulls playing in the background many of you remember the showrooms and Calendar Girls back in the day when VHS tapes were produced every year.

Currently there is a resurrgence of interest in the old videos and they are being made into DVD's and are now available for free.

More updated pictures and special sales will be coming about every other day as the new stock gets piled up and our bulk rate discounted buying power at a 1.10 exchange rate as opposed to the old rate of 1.65 for all these years there is just no comparison to the savings you will see in person at this next show the International Opel Festival and Picnic Saturday June 11 2016. See you all there.

Internationl Opel Festival and Picnic Prep Two Weeks and Counting 5/27/2016

International Opel Festival and Picnic Prep Two Weeks and Counting 5/27/16

Hey Folks! Here are a couple of pictures of progress for the upcoming International Opel Festival and Picnic Saturday June 11 2016. One of the features of the Festival is the engine and the Hillbilly Dyno. The Hillbilly Dyno was moved from the Museum in Riverside to the Festival location in Perris today. Now it is up to Mike Birdsell our resident expert to set it up for the day of the Festival.

Mike spent a good deal of time today to put it all together to be ready for travel by trailer. There was another engine on the Dyno that needed to be switched out so Mike had his hands full for several hours today.

The Dyno made it safely to Perris tonight and it will be unloaded and set up and then Mike will take over the day of the Festival.

We are so glad that one of our favorite features is well underway to being a huge part of our day on June 11th.

On another note a great big huge German package arrived today and it's contents over 100 parts will contribute everything from new rolls of rubber to carpet padding everything is being dumped into our Sales Display. Over 1000 pounds of parts.

Also a huge heavy box of Carpet Kits came in and rolls of door and window rubber arrived while Todd and Tammy were in Carlisle.

All in all hundreds of new parts are arriving every day for the Sales Display for the Festival. The pallet from Carlisle is on it's way back. It is full of our parts and things Todd bought while in Carlisle. Everything will be available for sale in our Sales Display.

Also Manny Wong's famous concept car had it's tires changed today and is being prepped to be seen by a potential buyer on the 11th. The car is valued at $18500 and we have a serious buyer it should be a very exciting day for everyone.

There will be many other cars for sale throughout the event both from customers and Opels Unlimited.

Also another treat Todd's Gullwing is also being prepped to be presented that day. One of only five in the world this project is very close to Todd's heart. Come listen to his stories about this car. It is being completely cleaned out and pressure washed and is ready for paint. We have chosen a paint shop Caliber Collision and they hound us every day to get this next prototype painted. As well as some of our other upcoming projects like our Conrero GT and a red customer car and an orange customer car. All created in the last year. We are inviting Joe from Caliber Collision to be on hand the 11th.

Lots more going on with updates to come soon.

International Opel Festival and Picnic Prep 5/29/2016

International Opel Festival and Picnic Prep 5/29/2016

Hey Folks! Here are some pictures of our White Tornado day here at the Manor in preparation for the International Opel Festival and Picnic June 11 2016. Several people worked on their holiday weekend to help create a great atmosphere for our Festival.

Along the way we sorted through everything in the Manor and got a head start on the Sales Display. All the auto parts in the house came to one place to be inventoried. A huge accomplishment.

We also went through the main aisle of the Manor and packed tons of things into the Attic for safe keeping. Major improvement.

So many many thanks to anyone who helped last week the week before this week the week after. Some really great eggs or Opel nuts it just depends on what side you are flipping them on.

Today was Selina Alora Kyle Todd and Debbie and last week it was Donna Tammy Dice Eric Todd Mike and Debbie. Yesterday was a big chunk of people. Today was a big chunk of people. Tomorrow will also be devoted to the preparation for the event. In fact every day between now and June 11th will be focused on our Festival.

Next in line tables lined up in the front on the bricks for food and giveaways.

Also more picture frames and trophy items were presented to Tammy to make the awards for the Picnic. We think we are going to have a great turn out so we want lots of awards.

The huge pallet coming from Carlisle is just 3 days away and so far all of the different categories of the hundreds of parts for the display has been inventoried and stored in a safe place in the Manor and will soon be discount priced for the display.

Hillbilly Dyno still on the trailer. Museum cars still need to be prepped cleaned and made ready for the trip to Perris. Gullwing GT and Manny Wong's famous concept car will be moved to Perris.

We are so thankful for such a great year as we are seeing how many new items are coming from around the world and getting added directly to the display. It will definitely be the biggest year ever.

International Opel Festival and Picnic Prep 6/7/2016

International Opel Festival and Picnic Prep 6/7/2016

Hey Folks! More work done on the grounds of the Manor. Dice Eric and Donna worked all day. These three have been the core of our workers and have done an absolutely amazing job. Especially Donna who does all of this out of her love of all things Opel. Come meet them all at the Festival.

The grounds are really beautiful after being worked on for the last many weeks. In the next couple of days we will be focusing on the Cars for Sale section of the event. Cars will be cleaned up and priced for Sale. Looks like there will be about 10 opportunities to buy Opels on June 11, 2016.

Here are some pictures of the grounds as they really start to shape up for the Festival. Next thing going in is more shade, tents, more umbrellas, tables and chairs and ofcourse the famous Sales Display. Lots more parts. Some really big savings this year. Not just onesies and twosies but enough for everyone to get what they want.

Other fun things like the Hillbilly Dyno will be in operation and Todd even has an Infrared Thermometer from Centech to measure the exact heat of your engine and other things under the hood.

Another great feature is that we have a brand new DVD coming out. Tammy is cranking them out each day. This is a rare Fun Video #12 hardly seen by anyone as it was produced after the famous Tech Video #13 and VHS was already disappearing. So now the latest unseen video will be available free in DVD form for the first time at the Event. Be sure and pick yours up from Tammy.

Again remember folks the whole event is Free. If you would like to bring a Pot Luck Dish, all are welcome. We should have plenty to share.

International Opel Festival and Picnic 6/13/2016

Hey Folks! Todd here at Opels Unlimited, here is set number one of my personal pictures from throughout the event.

Although I wasn't able to get pictures many times throughout the event, like during announcements, give aways and free raffles. Also during the Awards Ceremony. Please forgive me if I missed your picture during any of these times. I know people were still arriving even when Donna's giveaways were going on. OMG sorry I didn't even get pictures of everyone holding their plaques and trophies. I was on the microphone a lot this time.

So don't feel left out this event goes really fast especially for me. This is only set #1 and I promise to put out more over the next few days. Thank you all so much for coming. And also my heart goes out to the one dozen people who planned and something went wrong so they couldn't make it to the show.

The Opel Enthusiast Club promises that we will pick the date sooner and that announcements will be brought to your attention sooner as well. It was interesting this year that the Hotels around us filled up completely two weeks before the event or so. So the new plan, more advanced notice and get all your ducks in a row so things don't go wrong. As for me I deeply missed every person who could not make it right there at the end.

In life things come up but the happily Opeling continues and goes on an on.

International Opel Festival and Picnic 6/17/16

International Opel Festival and Picnic 6/17/16

We apologize for not posting these pictures sooner but we have been overwhelmed with recovering and catching up from the International Opel Festival and Picnic. But we are back on track now and you will be seeing several posts with pictures in the next few days.

Here are some more pictures from our special day. As you can see we had a good turn out with participants of all ages. We had two raffles, one for the Opel folks and one for the General Public. Donna Sion created the General Raffle with terriic results. She found all the goodies and made all the baskets and gave away or sold all the tickets. It was a real crowd pleaser.

This week has been a major clean up and recovery week. All the tables and tents and chairs and Awnings have been put away. It's almost hard to believe that less than a week ago we hosted a world-wide event.

Enjoy these pictures. We will post some more tomorrow.
