Is it correct that GM got legal problems in 1970, because the names "Kadett" and "GT" were protected by MG ?

Is it true, that GM get an court order in 1971 and was not allowed to use the term "Kadett" and "GT" in future.
Were GT and Kadett sold under different names?

Both GT and Kadett were sold in the US under their normal names until 1973. But the Kadett was rare here after 1970 because more of the Ascona and Manta models were sold than Kadetts.

Kadett & GT

I don't know about Kadett, but, GT is not a trademark because it stand for a racing class Grand Tourismo or Grand Touring and has been used by practically all the worlds automakers as a sub model designator i.e Ford GT40, Mustang GT, Pontiac GTO (Grand Tourismo Olmogato), etc.

Current SCCA and Daytona Racing have GT classes

dont think MG ever had a "kadett" model
any way we would spell it "cadet"
mg may have had "MG B GT" and "MG C GT" protected but they did not have just a "gt"
