It was a difficult delivery but I am the proud papa of a 2105 pound, 162 inch, little 1970 GT. She has mistreated by someone who didn't love her but all the wounds will heal. I am so excited I just had to make a posting. And by the way if you saw the what carb is this posting a while back, it is indeed a Steinmetz single side draft but not with a webber 40DOCE... but a 45DCOE.

I am a lucky boy.

the GT your reffering too was a pretty banged up blue GT with dual side draft carbs, i believe it was somewhere near the east coast.

Jeff, the one you were talking about was in Cumming Ga. Jared is correct it had dual sidedrafts. The one described above by gtmax was in Colordo. I kept both on my Ebay watch list to see what they brought. Jarrell

To All;
The one in Cumming, GA (Jawja) is being parted out, now that someone spilled the beans on how much those carbs were worth. Don't fret anyone, it wasn't anyone on this site that did it. I even told Rick (bennecojr) to be "non-shalaunt" went he went to see the car in person so as to not let onto what the guy had. But, someone "let the cat out of the bag" Rick had the guy set-up to possibly get the car for about $150-200, but, someone offered $300 just for the carbs. Oh well... :rolleyes:

To add to Gene's note. When I talked to the guy he said he would be happy with $300 for the car prior to me seeing it. I offered him $150 then $200 (it was in bad shape with no title) after I saw it.

This was not the blue Georgia GT but the white Colorado GT. It never showed up in the Opel section of Ebay because he listed it as a Buick
(go figure) I think that helped keep the price under $600. (and the fact that half the engine was in the passenger seat). The jury is still out on the bottom half of the motor, haven't had enough time off work to check the rods and crank yet, she may be seized up for all I know at this point.

I am open for any and all advice on the best course of action, afterall you guys are the veterns.

Thanks again

Sell it all quickly! Or else you too will end up with "Opelitis" and spend the money saved for the new kitchen (and bathroom!) on fixing it up. :D

Seriously, the motor is the least of your worries as many parts are available new and secondhand. Just carefully check out the rust in the bodywork and carefully assess the repair costs before starting anything. Most of us don't call our GTs "money pits" for nothing! :eek:
