I’ve found todays Recaros to be overrated.

I bought a pair of their “Extra M” seats to replace the OEM seats on my Baja. They are comfortable but of poor quality. The back position slips and has to be corrected once or twice a day. The leg extension foam came loose within a month, the only thing holding it in place now is my legs when driving. No point in a warranty claim, the cheesy design of “poke some foam through a hole” will never hold up. And they wear really fast, I drive less than 10k miles/year. Maybe they should sell them on a two year replacement subscription plan.

In the early 80s I replaced the stock seats in my Scirocco seats with Recaros. Now THOSE were great seats. Their quality has tanked. Maybe their $5k seats are built better but I wouldn’t bother with the sub $2k seats for driving average mileage.

Look up the release handles for an early '83-84 Porsche 944 or 928 at autohausaz and see what you get. They look like yours and just push on using a spring steel clip. They are relatively inexpensive.
