seats on eBay

woo hoo...I bought the seats on eBay (the BMW 320i Recaros). Maybe I paid too much...thats cool. ehhh..It's only money. I'm just excited to get those seats. I realized those are the same seats in Malcolms sweet red GT targa....the one with the awesome interior...carbon fibre dash etc... anyway, I'll have a set of GT seats in excellent condition for sale. I'll be posting pictures. The GT seats I have are at least an 8 out of 10, minimum. No rips, tears or cracks. Both recliner mechanisms work as well.

Congrats! The ones in my Wagon really make a trip much more comfortable. I haven't figured out a way to mount the ones for my GT (same as the ones you just got), but, working on it.

OGTS sells adapters for the Recaro seats. They would make the seat too high for me so Gill made a different adapter that would keep the Recaro seat lower to the floor. I suspect he would send you the plans for the lower adapter or sell the usual adapter.

Malcolm- heh... are the Manta seats the same model Recaro's that are in th BMW? They look nearly identical.

Yes, the Manta and the BMW seats are the same. I put mine side by side with a friends that he got out of an actual B series Manta GTE and except for the material/color, they are identical.

I still have the seats. The color of the material on them right now is dark blue. Vinyl/naugahide on the outside, with a corduroy/velour check pattern for the seat inserts. I'll get a picture to post, when I get home tonight.

Just a note, with the recaro seats and shorter drivers (me), the seatbelts may need to be changed for longer ones. Probably a good idea if your seatbelts are faded from the sun- tends to make 30 yr old nylon webbing brittle.

I have two sets, one set in my Sportwagon (pics are in the members pic section under bqs4) these are discontinued "KRX" model. I paid $400 for the set with rails. These were in almost new condition and could have easily sold for $500 a piece. The second set, is a more common that you can find easily on EBAY or in a salvage yard, looking for the BMW 320i series. These are also the same Recaros that were in the Manta B series. This set I bought for $100. I have attached a pic, and as you can see, it's like a lot of sets you'll see on EBAY. They have different colors and fabrics, but, they can be what you want them to look like. These have a handle up front to give extra thigh support.

I made "adapters" for those BMW seats I got off eBay. Wasn't too hard. Nothing more than a peice of metal accross the top of the seat to attach the stock GT rails to and center the rails 29mm apart (11 3/8") and drill. Did both seats this past weekend. I'll have photos up in a day or so.

I was a Pepboys yesterday to pickup some new metric bolts. They had a 3A Racing seat display. 3 seats setup on a stand so you could test sit them. They looked like a good fit for a GT.

Anyone else see them?

Recaro seat for sale Troy MI

I found a couple brand new leather Recaros for sale on Craigslist here in Troy MI. I bought the white one for my GT. It would be nice to have a pair, but one is better than none.

The tan one is still available. The guy isn't interested in shipping, but I thought maybe someone close by may be interested. Or maybe I should have a white one and tan one in my GT

Grab another one Don as well. Those seats seem to be in great shape and the price is favourable.
I think you should put them both in your GT. There will be less difference between white and beige Recaro than between one white Recaro and another standard GT seat.

Believe me, I'm tempted. My GT has the white interior and the tan is much darker so it would really stand out.
