I'm not real sure of the brake failure lights purpose other than to confirm what you've already discovered, that your brakes aren't working properly.

You are correct, I was being sarcastic. I would hope most drivers would know they were having brake troubles without having an idiot light. Americans must be perceived to be less intelligent than Europeans since they didn't have the brake failure warning light. :haha:

Push the parking brake handle down. The light should go out.

My experience with parking brakes is that they don't usually work very well in reverse.

Don't hurt yourself laughing too hard. I meant they more easily roll backwards than forward with the e brake on.

The '73 model GT has a switch that you can probably get to by removing the tray around the shifter and carefully pulling the carpet back at the top. The wire for the switch runs along the drivers side of the tunnel under the carpet. The switch is easily adjustable once you get to it.
