Rims?

Can anyone tell me where I can get some nice rims that others have purchased. OGTS seems to be pretty high on their prices. Any help would be appreciated. Also will a 16" wheel fit on a stock body GT?

I don't know about 16" wheels, b ut, you can certainly do 15" with the correct offset. But, we have to have an idea of what you're looking for.

so the 17 inch rims will fit on the GT? thought that the 15 inch was the biggest that someone can have.

More important than the wheel size is the tire size. If you retain the stock (or nearly stock) overall tire diameter, and refrain from making the tires excessively wide, then 17" wheels will fit no problem.

That's kind of a generic question, as it depends on many factors. First off, tire brands DO vary in width, even for a given dimensional size. Wheel width will alter the tire's width too. Tire diameter will greatly affect how wide a tire can be run without rubbing. Wheel offset also affects maximum usable tire width too. And lastly, the ride height of the car will greatly affect the tire clearance. So in other words, it depends on a lot more than one factor, but rather the sum of all these factors.

I've probably been utterly useless here, but you can see that it's hard to comment without all the facts in front of me. With more info, maybe members of this forum can comment on the largest tires they've fit to their GT's?

well i want to go with the 17x7 or the 17x8 rim. the car is at stock height. what offset would it need, and what tire would work good?

Well, assuming a 17 x 7" wheel, a good backspacing to shoot for would be 4" to 4.5". This equates to roughly 0 to 13mm offset. If you have trouble finding the proper offset (as most wheels these days are front-wheel drive offset), then you can use a wheel with a greater offset and compensate with custom wheel spacers. I'd recommend either a 205/40-17 or 215/35-17 tire. The first size is a little less than 1/8" taller than the stock 13's, and the second size is a little over 3/8" shorter than stock. Neither would alter the speedometer reading drastically from stock. But be prepared to feel EVERY bump in the road, there's not much sidewall with that low a tire profile.

Ok. I have 2 questions. First off I have a 1973 GT suspension is stock, the body is stock. I don't want to cut anything to change wheels and tires. I have a 1996 Honda Prelude with 205/55 X 15 Michelin's on it. The car drives great and I love the tires. I want to put the same tires on the GT. So........Can I find wheels to fit my GT ( correct offset and bolt pattern ) for tires of this size? Will they fit without rubbing?

Those rims are +38...I thought that was to much positive offset.

I agree I though the +38 offset was to much, the guy on ebay says they are the rims he sold tho. I was the one that had inquired the shipping to San Diego from him, after looking I saw I could buy the rims for 109 each. But I am curious about the offset, as all the AE rims have that as an offset option. Staying with in the boundaries of stock tire overall size do that mean any rim with the same specs as the ones mentioned can fit a GT?

Can it be that the PDF file on the rims from the OMC may have a bit of age to it?
