Well today was a fair showing of 6 GTs. Weather was really chilly and breezy, but later on the breeze died down and it almost got comfortable. Racing was without a doubt really competitive. 8 classes of cars from early go fast machines to the Trans Am cars, lotsa Porches, Cobras, Mustangs, Lotus, Jags, the whole gamut of early production race cars going at full tilt on a 1.6 mile 12 turn course. The Petersen Museum had some cars there, Edelbrock, BMW, and other vendors to keep everyone's interest. Navy aircraft on static display and more Ferraris, Cobras, Mustangs, Corvettes, Bikes, Beemers, Mgs, you name it they were there in groups. Even some old Honda Z cars with 360 CC bike engines and chain drive. Those that didn't attend really missed a great day, with more of the same tomorrow. Forgot to take the camera, had an incident with one of the dogs and that threw off my timing a bit. But I'll take it tomorrow and get some pics.

Well there were only two GTs that showed up today, Gary Ruyle and John Oconner with his wife Paula, but we made up for it with answering questions about our Opels. The usual stuff, I had one, somebody I knew had one, can I still get one, how much are they, all the questions we usually get at an outing. But still lotsa fun talking to the folks. One lady's grandmother was related to the Opel family, her hubby was a tanner and was the sole tanner for the professional baseball teams way back then. Just a bit of Opel trivia she said. There were over 200 hundred cars on display again today, with about as many vintage race cars doing their thing. 1921-1972 were the years of the race cars, all grouped in engine size and year built. It was a blast to see a 1.5L Alpha give a 55 265 cu.in. Corvette fits for over 20 minutes on the 11 turn 1.6 mile course. Here's a pic of Garys GT and a general overview of the cars there in the Meguir's Car Corral, and some of the early cars just coming up on the front straightaway behind the pace car. For those that didn't make it this year, you missed a real fun time with everything to see and do. But there's always next year, so make plans now.
