I have been told that the Recaro seats fit in the GT well. I was wondering if anyone knew the model that fits. I was looking on ebay and they have several models. I was told they are very comfortable and was wanting to know if anyone has first had experience. I see in the Suselbeek catalog a GT has a pair in the pictures but I can't find that model online.

Thanks

I might bid on those BMW seats. I noticed the rails are almost identical to the GT. In fact, the seats look sorta like the GT's style except for the headrest.

Is there much modification? Do I need to relocate the rails?

I have a set of these seats, paid $100 for them. Although they are vinyl/cloth, the need re-covering. I haven't gotten around to mounting them, but, I think the stock GT rails can be adapted. I did mount a set of Recaros in my Sportwagon, check in "member's photos" under " "bqs4", it's on the second page of pictures. These I took the stock Manta/Sportwagon/Sedan seats and stripped them down and came up with a excellent adaptor to put most aftermarket seats on and there's no modification to the floor of the Manta/Sportwagon/Sedan. It just takes a bit of work and two welds and you have a free adaptor. The best part is it retains the easy removal aspect to clean under or re-carpet.

I got my Recaros from the Source and I believe they are from the European Manta B. Gill made a different mount for them so that they would not be raised as much as normally. I am also going to use a smaller steering wheel to better clear my knees.

How is the comfort compared to the stock seat?

It's the sole reason to get these seats. The padding and springs are a lot thicker. I haven't taken any long trips with them yet but am sure I will appreciate them even more then. You do sit up higher in the GT with these seats than the stock seat. I have the seat tilted back more which seems to take care of the issue for me.

Those seats are out of the Honda Insight, the little elec/gas hybrid car that looks sort of like the old french Citrone Ente (duck). I paid $50 for the pair and welded them on the standard Reccaro mounts for the Manta. OpelGTS has the mounts. Though a welding shop could of adapted the stock mounts from the Honda.

Here is a link to the car. http://www.hondacars.com/models/exterior_colors.asp?ModelName=Insight

I have seen lots of them broken down around here.
