Carburetor

Hi Guys,

Im new here.....

I have got an Opel GT where I would like to upgrade the carburetor from the excisting single carb "Solex", to a double twin DHLA Dellorto carb.( 1 throttle per cylinder )

I have found a website ( UK ) where they sell the DHLA Dellorto and the suiting manifold for about 1660 USD ( all new parts, see also attached pic. ). Is this expensive and can I find it cheaper in the US ?

Also, has any of You got any experience with that type of upgrade ? Either to a Weber or Dellorto ?

Any pitfalls that I should be aware of ?

Please feel free to comment :)

Thanks, Thomas

manifolds on misab

Thanks for the replys guys,

Jakob, i cant find the manifolds on the misab.se page !?

The prices you listed, are much more expensive than the ones I found. Dont see those as alternatives, or is there something I have misunderstood ?

Dellorto UK, say that they have fitted the pictured carb and manifold in several GT's, so it must fit in there or are they just trying to sell me something !?

Thanks, Thomas

PS : Sorry for all the confusion  .....Im not a mechanic

Thomas,
Look under TRIMNINGSFÖRGASARSATSER. There is two options listed for the CIH (1,6 1,9 2,0) the dual or single 45 manifolds. They also sell the manifolds without the carbs, look under Insugningsrör.
You find all this under FÖRGASARE on the left side of their main page.

I see....found them !! ;)

They are a bit smaller it seems, and would probably fit better into the GT. Only problem is, they probably wont fit on 2 DHLA from Dellorto, since they are manufactored for Weber 2x45DCOE.
Or do they ???

Or maybe I should just forget about the Dellorto, and install a 2x45DCOE Weber instead........

Is that by the way, mechanical choke or is it Water/electric ? ( I need a mechanical because of originality functions etc. )

Thanks, Thomas

Absolutely no difference in "footprint", i.e. mounting dimensions are identical on both manifold and air-intake sides!!! Though internal parts are not interchangeable and are a bit harder to locate than the Webers, size for size, I prefer the Dell'Ortos . . . seem to work better for me.
