I am looking for NOS or like New 1973 Blue Luxus Manta Interior parts. Especially the door trim, arm rest, center consoles, etc.. like new condition only.

Also if anyone has near mint or really good condition Luxus door panels (preferably in Blue, but will take the maroon ones if they are mint and redye them).

My Blue Max will be coming home next month and I plan on a full restoration. Down to the Solex.

Yes I know..

One other thing if ANYONE has a picture of a Blue Max with the Blue Max decals I would love to see them. They were SUPPOSED to be added to the car by the dealers and from what I can tell usually never happened. The really annoying thing is the ad, doesn't even show the decals.

Find attached what we offically 'Know" about the Blue Max.

BTW anyone with the color version of this ad, I will pay handsomely for it. :D

Oh and Bob, it's not only a Solex.. I have to get the "No-Charge" white wall tires to "Dress Up" the restoration.. so I have to find 1970s' vintage 13" white wall tires.

I truly am a glutton for punishment.

It is worth noting that NEW Solex carbs turn up from time to time on German EBay and that Opel (plus other manufacturers) didn't persist with using Solex carbs for any other reasons than that 1) they worked well when new and 2) they gave exactly the level of economy and performance Opel required for their BRAND NEW under warranty cars!

Only when we try to make things "BETTER" by modifying things do the short -comings of the Solex become apparent! :)

Also Quoting RallyBob: ... Masochist! :D

Very Nice Blue Max. Will this be coming to Carlisle in '05?

Now I wish I never sold my 72 Raylle or 74 Luxus back in '83. I miss those cars.

Plans are for the restoration to be complete to the point I can possibly drive it to the OMC picnic in 2006.

All of the shows tend to be in the Southern CA area. I have already treked to the show from Richmond,VA twice in an Opel.

Plan on doing it in 2005 in my Bitter for the 25th.

Blue Max Resto

Charles,

I had a next door neighbor that had a Blue Max and I remember the decals being on the side of the front fenders above the factory insignia.

Going for "Pebble Beach" restoration, eh?

Thanks, that would seem to be the logical place remove the luxus badge on the side and stick the Blue Max logo. While leaving the Luxus badge on the tail.

Also told that the stickers were also sometimes found above the front turn signal. Probably dpended on the level of detail the dealer wanted to give them. Since of course the dealer rarely even installed them from what I can tell.

Can't blame them, the logos while mentioned in the ad are not shown on the car in the ad.
