Might be that you can see what's inside heads and long blocks, but not complete engines.
Nope it has to do with EPA, ANY head and any block in any shape are just parts.. Together its an assembly that could cause pollution.. stupid rule.

That would be the way i would go! Engine stripped, mark all parts and send all in
5 or 6 packages over the pond!:yup:
Most 2.4 have more then 200000 Km,so you must stripped the engine and overhaul
it anyway!

Its a good theme for talk at Carlisle:argue:

BTW since the motors will come through me here, I could take the bottom ends and top ends to my machine shop for rebuilding. Just an idea. I will facilitate getting the motor there, you send them the parts and pay them directly.

Charles,

I have a good machine shop that I use so I wouldn't need the engine work done. Would the 2.4 come with the exhaust manifold if I bought a complet one for 2k?

Yep.. 2K is harness to crank ( Harness would be cut.. but it would be there plugs, ECU, both manifolds,etc.. ) a 100% Complete. It would be a core from a junkyard. Unknown mileage and condition. But nothing would be broken and motor would turn by hand. I would be rebuildable.

The long block would be Head, Block, timing cover, the 2.4L Valve cover would be extra if you want it. Otherwise they may ship with just a steel cover to protect the valves.

and no George it would NOT fit YOUR GT.. the 2.4L Kieth has for you would though.

Almost all of the ex manifolds from 2.4L engines are cracked on 2 and 3 cylinder. For about 70 sold 2.4 engines I've 3 to 5 really good manifolds. **** stuff :)

FYI guys.. I maybe getting a Frontera and shipping it with the parts. Found if the car runs and drives, and items are secure we should be able to ship the car loaded with parts. Just not over loaded.

That means I may have all we can carry no.. ( Two motors, my transmission, and maybe a Getrag)

So kwschumm and 69whiteGT message me, because at minimum if we go with a pallet or crate that would pretty much fill a pallet or crate as well too.

Friday comes Getrag 240 but fit only with C20XE and C20LET engines. But I haven't see any GT or Kadett in USA wit DOHC engine yet ;)
We got a few :) Also a few Monzas and other gray market cars..

About as common as an AMC AMX would be in Germany.

So.... I am looking to get a number of 2.4Ls, a 4 speed automatic ( He found one of the Senator A ones for me.. ) and maybe some other parts and shipping them to me in a 1992 Frontera :)

So the real question is... who is in the market for a complete intake to oil pan 2.4L ? These will probably have to be picked up in Virginia, ( Or possibly Carlisle/Charlotte) and will need a complete going over. But they will be complete and not locked up.

I.E. torn down and new bearings, piston rings, gaskets, and away you go.

Cost will be about $2000-$2500 each once we get pricing on shipping.
Very interesting proposition. Always wanted to build a 2.2 or 2.4 ( like everyone else). Sadly I've invested way to much money into my 2L built to start all over with another older engine that needs a refresh.

That said, I'm guessing the 4 speed auto is destined for you Kadett? That's a cool future mod for sure! Will it still be bolted to a 2.4?

Probably not a 2.4L as I too am invested too heavily in my 2.0L :)

But driving the interstate at 70 MPH at 4000 RPM is just not acceptable.

Will the four speed auto fit in a GT? If so, I'm interested.
One of my GT's will retain the auto. It's not bad if it has a 3.18 but I don't expect it to have one, nor have a checked yet.

That reminds me that I still need to go pick up the head for that engine. I dropped it off back in November. :pat:

Not sure.. will find out how well it fits in a Kadett though if things go well.

I know Gary installed one in his Senator. I think he gave the dimensions on here somewhere.

Post 10 has the pics.

It was too long for my tastes in my GT. I would have ended up with 6" long drive shaft.
Thanks, now I remember, its all coming back to me ( getting old sucks ) thankfully I have the forum to help my memory.

I had checked and at 4.5" longer and a driver side linkage it would work on my Kadett. The Kadett motor is more forward than the GT and the linkage in on the driver side not passenger like a GT ( which makes the GTs TH180 unique to the GT ).

I can't wait to add 3.18 gears and a 4th gear. That should really help the highway gears and mpg. We will have to wait and see.
