Hey-

Since there seems to be more 'activity' in the St. Louis area of late, I figured I'd start a thread for a roll call of who is out there within say 50 to 100 miles.

The people I know of:

Myself (that one was easy...)
Calvin (hotrod Manta)
Al (red GT)
Bruce (red GT)
Jason (I'm not sure, but Bruce says it's a GT)
Gerard (Green GT. Not sure of the spelling. Met him at Route 66, he knows Jason.)
Joe (brown GT)

Speak up, chime in, mouth off, etc., if you have or want an Opel and would like to get involved in some unorganized activities/get togethers/wrestle royales.

There are some Opels floating around that may still be in the area or haven't moved in forever.

-early Manta (yellow). Last known to be in North County about ten years ago. Rumored to have made it to South County.

-68-69 Kadett Rally (green) North County Older couple had it and sold it about ten years ago. 1.5 if I recall right.

-Charles Gottschalk (two GTs white and yellow, I think, at least one was a 1.1) 1900-2000 block of Victor. Cars moved about ten years ago.

-black GT. red interior. Clayton area as of '99-'00.

-Pearlescent white GT. Crestwood area. May be accompanied by a primer black one with gold BWA wheels. Haven't seen either car since I sold the white one back in '98-'99.

-Rick Yount. Green GT. Soutside, Hampton and Gravois area.

-Green GT. Spotted 5-6 years ago on a Sunday sitting outside a shop at Southwest and Hampton. May have been Rick Younts car.

-Green 1.1 GT. Mid-Rivers. First spotted back in 88-89. Still sitting next to the engine shop in mid 90's.

-Green GT. Butler Hill Rd. east of 21. Early 90's. Rough, but ran.

-Red GT. Fairview Heights back in 92-ish. Red with yellow splatter paint triangular graphic on side.

-Blue GT. Green Park and 21/tesson Ferry. Late 90's. Sat in front of the house right there on the corner.

-Ascona/1900 sedan. In the weeds and brush next to a barn on MM. Still there, I think. A visit is planned once the vegetation dies back.

-6 GTS in East St. Louis. Al has more info. Doesn't sound like the guy really wants to sell.

-Blue GT. Southside. Early 2000's. Saw it at Mark's Automotive on Kingshighway. Brought in found brake work. Nice car.

-Silver Ascona/1900 wagon. Early 2000's. Right across the street from Mark's Automotive at a recently opened car dealer. No signs, no price. disappeared almost immediately.

-Orange Manta Rally. Calvin's ex-parts car. Gave it to me, I gave it to Daniel. Saw Daniel last year, but have not heard or seen of him or the car since.

-Blue GT. Al's first GT. Popped up on Ebay a couple weeks ago. Imperial area.

-Red/orange Opel Isuzu. Keep seeing it on 40 headed west around Forest Park. Older guy drives it. Webster/Kirkwood, maybe?

Tom,
I am about 120 MI south of you. I have a 73 GT. We just met at Springfield last weekend. I was driving the Sky. I am now working hard to get my hot rod 2.0 back in my GT. It would be nice to hang out with Opel guys more than one time a year.

Another Red GT

Tony,

My neighbor said he spotted a another red GT driving down Tesson Ferry last week - great condition with stock wheels.

BTW - has anyone seen the 75 Manta on eBay down in Springfield MO. Looks pretty rough, but the Sprint manifold is worth more than the $80 it is at right now.

eBay Motors: Opel (item 250170637318 end time Oct-06-07 06:59:24 PDT)

Willis-

Look in my photo album. There are pics of the Manta airdam/spoiler we talked about in Springfield.

Bruce-
SSSHHHH!!!! Don't drive up the bidding! Plans are a foot....

Tell Jason to post or post for him and tell him to get Gerald (I am getting bad at remembering names...) to post. Give them both my phone number, too.

I'm thinking of maybe a little bbq at my house in early November. Maybe...

Hey Tony, It was nice to meet you in Springfield. I might pull that ugly vinal-top off today, and see how bad it is underneath. P.S. You spelled the name right! GERARD

Hey Gerard-

Take some pics before you pull it. It would be cool to have some records of the unusual 'options' and customizing people have done over the years.

For everyone in the area (and further out), my phone number is 314 803 6440.
If anyone needs help/parts/advice, give me a call. If it means getting another Opel on the road, I'm up for it.

Hi Jason-

It's a shame you and Bruce didn't make it to the Route 66 festival. You would have liked it...alot.

I'm not sure yet, when we will have a get together. Sometime in November. I may have something to do in Springfield MO that I will have to plan around. But that is okay, because BBQ tastes even better in November.

Hey-

Bruce says he is previously engaged for the Veteran's Day weekend. So I was thinking of getting people together the weekend after that. That will be two weeks from this weekend. Kind of tight for scheduling, but then we start to get into the holidays and colder weather.

Would Saturday be good? If so, who can commit?

I'll probably have to call to check with some people as I am not sure of the frequency of their forum visits.

Count me in!!

Tony,

Are you still planning to have a BBQ this weekend? I definitely plan to attend. What time will it start and what do you need us to bring - besides our Opels of course?

If I get some more responses by Wednesday night, I'll continue planning for it.
Probably food. I need to see what the forecast is to see if we can fire up the grill.

By the way, I have mostly drilled out the holes in the manifold. I hope to finish it tomorrow.

I'm in Perryville, MO about 75 miles south. My '71 GT has been sleeping at my mechanic's waiting for parts. OGT Source's catalog is wonky on my computer.

Literally going ground up on the GT.
Done: Wheel bearings, tires, calipers, rotors, shocks, hoses, engine, radiator.
Paint layers removed and waiting/wanting to go to body shop.

Needs done: Interior work, some electrical.
oringinally orange with black int. I'm looking for an exterior color suggestion and for interior components. Door panels particularly.

Adios,
Mike

Hey Mike-

Do you need door panels or looking for new ones?

Color? What is your favorite color?

An update...of sorts.

So far, Bruce and Al have expressed interest in meeting this coming Saturday, noonish, at my house (just north of Hillsboro MO). I need to confirm with Bruce.
I put in calls to Calvin and Jason, but have not received responses, yet.

I don't have Gerards number, if someone else could contact him, that would be great.

Mike-
You are more than welcome to join us.

I have a grill, but everyone needs to bring what they wish to eat. I can supply some stuff.

Nobody has posted on here in a while. I live about 10 miles from St.L, and just purchased my first opel gt. Wondering if you all were still around. I could always use some advice/tips/support/help. Lol Thanks Jesse
