We will be having our Summer Opel Meet on Saturday, August 7, 2004, at our home in Tallmadge, OH. Bring your car or come without one, just come and enjoy the company and discussion of other Opelers. Arrive anytime after 9:00 a.m. If you need overnight accomodations, let us know. Please let us know (even calling the day of) if you are coming so we can provide enough food.

It is a good time of socializing, admiring Opels, Opel tech talk and working on each other's cars.

Contact us for details and directions.

I will be there as usual. If my room isn't spoken for already, I'll probably stay over, especially if we get into another all night project. :)

Anyone that is in the Ohio, W.PA, or Southern Michigan area should really try to make it. Vickie & Allen are great hosts. There is always plenty of food & beverages along with Opel talk & helping each other with our cars. Even if you can only come for a few hours, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Opel Meet

Jared, Sorry it took so long to reply. Just got back from vacation tonight. Sure will be glad to have you come and spend the night.

Not sure about how to fix that does not want to receive emails. Is that something that comes up automatically unless you check you do want to receive them?

Just click on your "User CP" (at the top), and then "Edit Options" (in the left hand menu), and select the options to receive e-mails and PM (Private Messages) from members. And you will have to enter your e-mail address in your User Profile, if you haven't already.

Tom: just checking to make sure we're still making the part swap at vickis, would hate to bring the motor that far for no reason.

Jared,

I'll be there with the parts. I still have to get a few things together. I've been really busy & hope to have my interior done with my new seats. I'm going to put the stereo in now & maybe switch carbs.

Ken, I hope you will be there too. I'd like to hear how your engine & car are coming along.

See you on Saturday.

my car isnt finsihed either but i'm still going. got alot of oil leaks i'm fixing this winter and repainting this "stock" motor unless i use another motor between now and then. got some bubbles in the paint to fix this winter too, really discouraging because i know its not rust, the car had minimal rust and the one rotted out spot hasnt a single flaw. i'm still going, want to meet everybody, really hyped up about it.

I'll be there ... sans Opel (GT or Manta). The Manta IT engine (2004 engine) is finished -- will start on the 2005 engine this fall. I put priority on the Manta hoping to get a few races in this year. So, the GT awaits in primer, the engine (2.4) is done, but unassembled. Found out yesterday that the bodyshop broke the rear window on the Manta. I'm looking for a rear glass for a Manta ... Anybody!?! I'm seriously considering the Manta parts bundle on ebay, which includes glass and a lot of other parts that I don't need. But, then again, racing can take its toll on bodyparts and glass.

I could trailer the Manta (Allen's trailer -- thanks) to the Summer Opel gathering ... the fuel lines need replacing and other things to keep us busy ... LOL

Looking forward to meeting the new folks and seeing the oldtimers (previous attendees) ....

The more the merrier!

Charles,

If you are heading across 76 you are within 5 miles of our house. (I-80 the turnpike) is about 1/2 hour north of us). I believe we have a couple people spending the night here Saturday but I'm sure we could find a place for you to sleep.

Why don't you plan to join us!

Jared - I'll be driving my GT whether I get the new seats in or not. That would just be an added (more comfortable) bonus.

Ken - I believe I have a Manta rear window I can bring for you.

Charles - I hope you can stop by.

Anyone else need any parts? I will be going to my parts stash (Todd's house) probably on Friday morning to get some stuff for Jared & the window for Ken. Let me know.

Thanks plan on it.. Actually reworked my plans. Will leave Richmond early to get to Pittsburgh to drop of the Pinball in the late afternoon. Then will drive on to Indy and get there in the Midnight area.

Sleep in a hotel then, and pick up the Manta in the AM, I should be in OH about 1-4pm or so.. dpending on how much gabbing I do with Jeff Todd (The gracious host of the Blue max this long year) and when I pick it up. So I shall remain Opelless for less than a day and still not miss a Opel meet without bringing a car (minus a few OMC picnics were I flew in.. although I have made it twice to CA with Opel ;)

Figured I would take you up on the offer of a couch at your place on Saturday night.

Good Times!

This year's summer Opel Meet has come and gone. We had our largest attendance yet. We had 12 Opelers and 7 cars; 6 GT's and one Manta. Charles Goin drove the furthest coming from Virgina by way of Indianapolis to retrieve his Blue Max. Jared and his cousin drove in from Michigan and Tom Cavataio and Ron Mattern drove in from PA. Ken Alderson drove down from Cleveland. We turned up another new member, Randy Lortkowski, who brought his wife and oldest son.

Many of us are planning to drive out to the Route 66 Festival in September and we will have another NE Ohio/Western PA get together here in October for Opels Across America.

Come and join us!
