did some search but could not find exact ansver...

i put in new timing chain, new guides and so on. checed the timing marks and they were bit off. moved chain one tooth up and down the sprocet and it worsened. so i put it back. i rotated the crank clockwise(wieved from front and chain thigtened right way) and aligned the cam sprocet marks. mark on the flyfheel was off from the pointer about 2 cm clockwise (still looking from front), when i put my finger through bellhousing window the poiner is on one side of the finger and mark on flywheel, otherside.
head is milled before (during head rebuild) just to flatten it...

is it normal or should i be worried about it?

Start at the basics. Warm the engine up. Disconnect and plug BOTH vacuum lines which run to the distributer. Make sure when you plug the lines that it is plugged so the carb doesn't pull in excess air. Keep the RPMs under 1000. Now set your timing.

Just my 0.02

sorry for bugging again, but i thouht this might be a bit interesting.

what if the original rightside chainguide is replaced with a device (has to be custom made) wich contains attachment plate and correct sise sprocet(freely running) attached to it. see the picture.
if sprocet is moved left enough the timing marks should get aligned, as the chain runs longer way between two main sprockets.

i can see the disadvantages: can the supportplate be fixed so that it does not come loose and how gets the sprocet oiled enough. also there will be need to take off timing cover to reset the sprocket, if needed.

on the picture the sprocket is too small (too sleepy to redraw it but youll get the point, its 3.00 at night for me) but i think there should be quite a lot of room for bigger sprocket in there as the distributor shaft is way forward and timing cover seems to be roomy at that place.

would like to hear what you think of it. maybe it has crossed some heads before or been in the threads somewhere before...
