Why do I always wait until there is a upcoming show (Fallbrook CA) to sort out the gremlins.
My 73 Ascona has a rapid flashing left turn signal and after a few left turns the 5 amp fuse that feeds the turn signals and some of the gauges blows.
Does this sound like a problem with the flasher???

That sounds like you have a bit of an electrical short somewhere in the left turn signal circuit. You need to check it out with an ohm meter to see if there is a break in the insulation along that circuit. Try wiggling the steering wheel with the left blinker engaged to see if an intermitent fault is in there somewhere. You will have to unlock the steering to wiggle it so it would be an idea to disconect the battery while testing this.
