Hi RallyBob, I'm in the process of V-sixing my G.T. Got all the engine mounts done, but now I have found a rather nice 2.8L engine from a fiero. Will it work? It's a stick shift car. Will the flywheel and clutch work with a five speed from an S-10? Are the engine mounts on the block the same as any other front wheel application 2.8? Oh yes....it doesn't run backwards....does it?

Sorry, but this was WAY too far removed from Air Conidioning questions, so I split it to its own thread. But clever of you trying to get RallyBob's attention by replying to a thread he clearly subscribes to.

Although I might advise you that Bob is more of an Opel-engine fan, and not so much of a V-6 swapper.

Hmmm, truth he does speak (in my best Yoda voice).

I do personally prefer to keep it all 'Opel', but on the other hand I have always said that if I was going to do a swap it would be a 60 degree GM V6. That being said, I have not ever attempted to do this, and consequently I will be of little help to you.

But, there are quite a few GT's running around with this engine in them, including many of the members of these forums. And there is a huge thread concerning one person's trials and tribulations regarding a swap to an EFI 60 degree V6 (Willit? Update), so I suggest you start there and then dive into the engine swap forums in general, since this is one swap that has been done by many. Good luck.

Bob

i dont know much about the 2.8 liter engine, but i do know that the RWD engines are somehow different from the FWD engines. not sure why but something is different about them, a friend of mine has a fiero and bought a 88 blazer engine and he said it wont bolt up, but didnt say why and i didnt ask. so i'd check into the fieros engine as its a FWD 2.8 liter engine.
