What resistance values should I get when the float is all the way down versus all the way up when the fuel sending unit is out of the car. What do the numbers stamped in the VDO casting mean? Mine says 21/265 4.72... doed this mean when the float is all the way at the top the ohm meter should read 21 ohms and when the float is at the bottom the meter should read 265 ohms? is 4.72 the date code when the sending unit was manufactured? The resistive wire in mine is broken and I ordered a replacement sending unit and want to be sure it is close to what it should be before I put it in the tank and fill with fuel.

MODERATOR'S NOTE: Thread moved to "1E - Other Electrical/Gauges/Instrument Panel" where this has been answered MANY time before (90 ohms empty, zero ohms full). Please attempt a "Search" before starting a new thread, and if that isn't successful, please at least ensure that the thread you start is in the appropriate Forum

Thank you in advance for your consideration
