Nothing yet... but the day isn't over!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Reconnecting the rear sway bar links when I get home and playing with the acceleration enrichment tables a bit to clean up WOT enrichment transitions a bit more.

Next race 12/16/18... hope to climb the ladder a little more if possible.

That 70's Car (Sport Wagon) is parked for now, under tarps and on a trickle charger. It'll be interesting to see how motivated the guys are to get it ready for the next race or if this is again something I have to lead/spearhead/do.

The Tinyvette is snug and warm int eh garage, but I did have it out a few days ago for some photos. It runs great!

Meanwhile, ROb's GT is still in my garage, on jack stands. The renovated fuel tank was the last thing I took car of on it. I'm finishing that up now and moving on to the battery tray and other things.

I need one of those short AW-03 auto trannies! You have an extra one? I want it!

AW3 was uUsed in Suzuki Sidekick, Grand Vitara and Geo Tracker. Shouldn't be too hard to find. Not sure if 2WD and 4WD versions are different or easily converted.

I just put an AW4 into my '72 Javelin.

I finished up installing the fuel tank in Rob's car, vent lines, tire shelf, etc. That little sh*t takes more time than you'd think.

I pulled the old plastic fuel line and ran aluminum line. That's done except for trimming and connecting the ends.

Skunky gas sure smells bad, and is worse than gear oil for following you around for the rest of the night.

I wanted to replace my 10 year old fuel pump with a new chromy one I had because my car did a couple of brief engine shut offs lately. I suspected a fuel delivery issue. I had 2 inline filters before the pump: The cool glass type that are fragile as heck and leak prone and a common see-through plastic one. Don't need two. Twice as many places for something to go wrong.

Like my discovery that my rubber fuel line hose had a completely dislodged/untightened hose clamp where the rubber is attached to the 5/16 metal fuel line I have running the length of the car(see the 2nd picture below). The join of the rubber to the steel fuel line was right where the sheet metal clip on the body that holds the fuel line is. I can't tell if the clip pushed the hose clamp off or somehow the hose clamp loosened up, but there it was spinning freely on the metal line. WTF! I wiggled the hose and fuel dripped out! Aarrgghh! Who's the idiot that did that hose job?

All the hoses are rock hard and just would not come off of their barbed fittings, so I decided to replace it all. I needed some 5/16 hose and a new see-through filter. Obtaining hose was no problem, but none of my local stores had the generic see-through type of filter. Aaarrgghh! Dammit! They say they don't carry them anymore. Aaarrgghh! I can't get my car aligned anywhere any more and now I can't even buy a fuel filter! Dammit! Old cars suck! My go-to auto parts store was closed so my simple project now has to wait until tomorrow and, after running the heater all day to warm up the garage, now I have to leave the heater on all night so I can have decent working conditions tomorrow.

Aarrgghh!

Motorcycle shops usually still have the see thru filters but they tend to charge 10X the price they should for them.

Yup, that's the type. I really like their look and they're super cool to watch when the pump is pumpin'. A neato little tornado forms inside them. Plus you can totally take it apart to clean it and stuff. But they break easy and can leak. Also, the screen isn't very fine. I had painted the inside of my filler neck with tank sealer where I had done some welding and, back when I had my side drafts tuned, the guy found a whole bunch of black particles inside the fuel bowl that he had to vacuum out of the carb. The paint had come loose and gotten past the filter's screen to the carb. That's why I added the second plastic see through filter.

My new pump came with a metal filter that I could use, but, you know Opels, you want to know what going on with them all the time, otherwise you'll be stuck on the side of the road.

Whaaat? Canada Post went on strike! They call it labour disruption. The Government owned, non-performing entity that is losing billions of dollars year after year, went on strike! They are now saying that the backlog will take months to clear.

Remember Clark in Christmas vacation, when he freaked out? I need the shotgun now.

Regarding health: My wife Katarina finally quit smoking after battling heavy case of bronchitis for almost three weeks. Today is the 6th day since she quit. She didn't kill me yet but I sleep in another room and lock the door before going to bed.

I finally found 5/16" see through fuel filters. I bought 3 of them. I finished the install of my new pump:

I discovered why the hose clamp had come off the hose: It was the type for fuel lines that had a tab that slides under the other side as you tighten it to apply even pressure all around the hose. The tab had snagged and didn't slide under and created the false impression that I had torqued it tight, when it was actually loose as a goose. It went in the trash and I installed a new one. The reassembly and testing went just fine.

Nice Job,, My wiring Tip on the Fuel Pump wiring,, Run one Hot wire and one Ground wire from Fuse Box to fuel pump
Better to Ground Fuel pump on the fusebox mounting threaded stud.with nut//. than under the body screwed to sheet medal screw next to pump. too easy for bad connection ... Good Luck ,,, I always carry a extra electric fuel pump on board.. never know when it could crap out :yup:

About 40 degrees and dry roads today so time to take the GT for a little 10 mile run. Ran great, I try to do this about every two or three weeks even this time of year. I think it helps to keep everything moving. Also went by the Route 66 Hotel and made arrangements for next years Mother Road Fest. Room rate will be $75 plus tax. I will start a thread for the event soon. I need to figure out how to do that and include the R.S.V.P. feature. Been trying for a few years and still can't get it done.

So tracing and bending hard pipes not too easy.. installing new pipes with engine in place is challenging
Get some 1/8th inch thick wire, like a a whole coil of it. Cut off a really long strand (or buy like 8 ft of it), and bend this by hand to your desired shape. Then use it as a guide for bending tubing.

Are the '77 BMW 2002 front brakes a perfect match?

Is there a database full of this info? It would be cool to know more about my own GT. My VIN is OYO7NC 3129386. I know it was produced in January of '73 and has a body number of U 1070844.
