You'll have to excuse the exuberance, but I'm on an adreneline rush...
Speedway GT is a hit! How does fifth place sound, in a field of thirteen cars?
I would have got fourth they say, but I made a mistake when first place and second place got around me (they had started in the back, I started second row outside). A Mustang that had tailed me from the start was able to get around me when the fastest cars did on lap 12.
We started the day with problems, my spring mod to the right side did the trick but made the car so loose that I spun out on lap three of practice. We put more wedge in the left rear to get the crossweight back to 47%, the majic number that we had last Wednesday night. In the heat race the car was better but still loose and I spun out, caused a caution... not a good show. I was bummed and looked stupid... So we did some tire switching, moved left side tires front to rear and rear to front which brought front stagger up and rear stagger to only one inch, normally not enough. I remember Bob saying a GT needs less stagger than what is normal, how is that, but he was right. In the main event the car was great, would you believe it pulls away from the Fords coming out of the turns? They can catch me going in but coming out I lose them. Coaches say it's because I'm turning in too soon. Gotta work on that.
Anyway, thanks again to all who helped with advice and encouragement, we have a car that will get a checkered flag soon. I can't wait till next Saturday night!
