I have read a lot about jetting and Carburetors on the forum but have not seen a thread on the title subject, perhaps I missed it. So I am looking for recommendations for the proper Jetting of a Weber 32-36 DGAV on a 2.0 Engine...
Specifications of engine purchased from OGTS, 1999: camshaft of .430" lift with a SOLID
grind camshaft, installed with 1.72/1.50 Chevy valves,
and 2.0 (.030" OS) pistons Electronic ignition added later - vacuum leaks eliminated and timing is spot on - car is currently running well - I just want to make sure it is running as well as possible and looking for better mileage results.
I have two Weber 32-36 DGAV carburetors - one that I purchased used, 20 years ago, and just took apart/cleaned and put back together which was a personal first for me, and buy the way, it takes a lot longer that the video indicates. The procedure was however rendered rather simple after watching a very well done video on YouTube:
- there is both a tear down video and a rebuild video, specifically for the 32-36 DGA series. Without these videos I would never have tried it. Anyway the used Weber, made in Italy, never seemed to run right so 10 years ago I purchase a new one, made in Spain, from Pierce Manifolds. The GT's new engine, as of today, has a total of 2400 miles on the odometer after my 60 mile drive today, and the Spain made carb on the car would have a little less mileage than that, perhaps 1000 miles less.
Everything on the used carb appeared to be in good working order and had the following Jets: However one of the emulsion Tube caps was clogged......Perhaps that was my problem with this carb from the time I installed it 20 years ago?
Current Jets in the used/and or rebuilt Italian Weber:
Primary Idle 50
Secondary Idle 50
Primary side emulsion tube F 50
Secondary side emulsion tube F 50
Primary side main Jet 140
Secondary side main Jet 140
I have not taken the new Spain made Weber apart yet but assume the jetting would be similar. I am pretty confident that when I purchased the new Weber from Pierce that I failed to mention that my request for a new carb was nothing more than a stock 1.9 GT - I have learned a lot since then.
So who out there has a 2.0 similar to mine that could give me some ideas on what my jetting should be.
I want to make sure the jetting and carb tuning is spot on prior to moving forward to my last major project under the hood and that will be adjusting the valves. I have also read a lot about that procedure and stand ready to move forward to complete that project as well. I only have to wait until the unbearable heat lets up here in the very Southern part of South Carolina which should be coming soon. Thanking in advance those that have the knowledge and for sharing it with me. Best, Carl
Current carb in place - just threw in a picture in case something jumps out - you never know.....
