Opelbits You are correct ! That is not what I was thinking of. Or have ever seen. Not in my memory banks to think about.
Now that we have a peek at an obviously unique GT, how about some more overall views please.

I was at the Springfield event in 2010 as part of a cross country drive, I see a blue 'wagon' in Sam's pictures, I don't remember that one.

Sam's GT has an interesting patina. Thanks for sharing all of those pics... Appreciated by those of us who weren't there in person.
Every body liked the blue wagon. It is super neat!

Most would call my opel a parts car. The red interior is in very good condition and the engine is shot but it drives very nice. And it is very rusty underneath. But it got a ton of attention at the show. Heck my GT was 1 of the 3 opels Dennis Gage camera guy was filming. That is pretty cool.

Today we are going to the show again. I will try and get more pics.

Made it home safe and sound. Once the car had a chance to cool down I did a little investigating and found that the nut on the main starter lug was VERY loose, to the point that the wires that meet up there were barely making contact. Tightened it back down and all of the starting and electrical glitches went away. Gotta love a simple fix!

A big THANK YOU to John and Connie for all of the time spent in putting together such a fun gathering.

2024 Route 66 festival is in the books, and it was another great one. The weather was about as nice as you could want. We saw a little rain when we arrived in Springfield Friday, but the rest of the weekend was mostly overcast and the temps were pleasant, but most importantly it stayed dry during the show both days. Like Carlisle this year, non-Opels encroached on our designated space, pushing us out into the intersection. We will have to get in earlier next year. We stayed for the awards today, and made it home before dark even with a relaxed stop for lunch. Thanks to John and Connie for hosting again, and everyone who made it out with our without Opels (we had 12 by my count). It was great to see everyone.

Some cars are SURVIVORS and get respect for that.... Others are restored to perfection and get admiration also....

We made it back home safely last night. It was a pretty uneventful drive. The roads just suck. They need to redo every bridge. Lol
The tundra might need new front struts after all these roads.

It was a super fun show and my dad and grandpa and I had a ton of fun. Thanks a lot to John and his wife for making this happen! We greatly enjoy it! Hopefully next year we will have a few more opels.

You make it sound like your breeding them.....like rabbits. A more accurate analogy would be gypsies....suddenly, there are several in your yard.

I try to wait a couple of days to wrap things up so folks can get their comments in.

This year was different than most for our group at the event. What started out looking like a nice weekend, changed a bunch when the storm came in from the south. First off, it made it necessary for some of the group to pass on showing up. Seeing as how the weekend progressed this it both bad and good. For the most part, Springfield was on the western edge of the weather. Friday could be best described as drizzly. On the good side it let up around 5 pm for dinner. This may have been why we could get about twenty people into Smokey Bones to eat. Bad news was they were shorthanded, and service was very very slow.
Saturday dawned cloudy and dry, but things went haywire quick. The parking area we had never really had a problem setting up in was being invaded. I started to get calls about 7:30 am telling me to get our group there quick as the guy running the show said he was having a hell of a time holding an area for us. When we got there it was a complete circle jerk, but we did manage to get the Opels we had parked a little to the south of our normal area. We had twelve Opels and barely got them in. It looks like next year; me and a couple of others will need to go down early to hold our spots. After that, things went pretty smooth. It stayed dry and we got our evening activities done. I think most felt the Abe's Hideout location worked out well for dinner and food was good I understand that a few stayed late in the Hospitality that night.
Sunday again was dry, and we had a good group of Opels on display. I posted those who took our awards earlier. I left after that due to Connie wanting lunch.

For those who are interested, dates for next year's event are---- September 26-28-2025
Hope to see you there.

Saw some beautiful Opels roll in. Hurricane forced my leaving Saturday morning to head home due to power outages and trees falling back in S Carolina. Left at 9 am and arrived home Sunday morning just after midnight. White knuckle driving thru fog, rain, curves and mountains in KY and Tn. Was great to see everyone Friday night and Saturday morning.

Last one ...

One brand-spanking new and Gordo-shiny set of wheels (2x 13x7 and 2x 13x5.5). They come with two sets (= for two wheels) of the shown lug nuts. Can we get a deal for $ 250?
